Being from southern California, it wouldn't be New Year's Day without the Rose Parade. Started in 1890 by the Valley Hunt Club, the parade continues to showcase a wide variety of both mounted and driven equestrian groups (our favorite part), marching bands from the US abroad, along with the amazing floats decked out in flowers, fruit, bark, seeds, and all sorts of clever botanical ingredients. This year, the equestrian entries include the Arabian Horse Association demonstrating the versatility of the breed from native costume to endurance racing, the Budweiser Clydesdales, International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association, Mini Therapy Horses, Northwest Spotted Drafts, the incredible Scripps Miramar Ranch driven and ridden entry, the US Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard, the Valley Hunt Club with their Friesian drawn carriage, our hometown Norco Cowgirls Rodeo Drill Team, and more! We hope you enjoy the parade as much as we do!
ARS will be closed January 1st, enjoying the parade, and gearing up for the new year. We'll be back in the office on Thursday, January 2nd, to help you get prepared for the 2025 foaling and breeding season.
Tune in on January 1 to see the organization that started it all. The Valley Hunt Club will ride down Colorado Boulevard featuring VHC President, Chris Cole, and his family. 🌹✨
“In New York, people are buried in snow,” announced Professor Charles F. Holder at a Club meeting in 1890. “Here our flowers are blooming and our oranges are about to bear. Let’s hold a festival to tell the world about our paradise.” ☀️
More than a century later, the parade floats are a marvel of state of the art technology, all tucked away beneath flowers and other all-natural materials. Every New Year, visitors experience the beauty of the floral floats along with spirited marching bands and high-stepping equestrian units along the 5 ½ mile route down Colorado Boulevard. 🐴
