Due to space constraints, we can't have a dedicated kitten room, so we foster in the back of my quilt shop. Most days, our fosters have full access to roam and play in the quilt shop. At night we tuck them into a large cage for their own safety when we aren’t here to supervise them.

Happy Tailz Cat Rescue, Inc is once again in the predicted path of a hurricane, this time Hurricane Milton. They are grateful for the supplies donated after Hurricane Helene. They want to purchase a generator to keep a/c and medical devices working for their hospice and other sick kitties. Please help, if you can.

We are in the DIRECT path of yet ANOTHER hurricane a week after Helene hit. Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall, at this time, right on top of us in St. Pete, FL as a category 3 hurricane. We have all the supplies thanks to your generosity, but the loss of power for a prolonged time in our main foster home is REAL. That home belongs to our president and lost power for 3 days during Helene and despite having prepared with coolers and ice, all medications were lost… I know you all have donated your hearts out for us and came through with supplies so now is a HORRIBLE time for this to be happening so soon… But we are in need of a generator to at least run the refrigerator and one AC for our hospice cats and very sick kitties there. While a whole house generator would be ideal especially when that is our foster home for those on oxygen and IV fluids, we don’t have time to try and raise funds for one of those as they are about $6000… We didn’t actually think another hurricane would hit so soon… A generator to run one single AC for the most needy cats (and hospice kitties because they need AC and comfort) (maybe 2 ac if we can afford it) and a couple refrigerators would cost about $1200-$1800. This would be shared across the rescue when needed and is portable, but right now the biggest need is to keep our HOSPICE and extremely ill kitties in AC with medicine and those are located at our presidents home. We know you all JUST donated your hearts out thanks to hurricane Helene and our storage unit flooding and we REALLY don’t want to ask for anything else, especially after SUCH love and generosity was shown to us… But we can’t watch our hospice babies go through another power outage in FL where their home get ups to 94 degrees inside 😭. We have $700 saved up from a fundraiser of a very sweet follower! So ideally we would need to raise about $1,100 more. Our president will also chip in money but after replacing immediately needed supplies just a week ago AND Sakura, a Happy Tailz alumni, relapsing with FIP and needing a feeding tube and restarting FIP treatment, finances are tight. But as always we will do our best to figure something out! If you can, please share and donate! Here is Puma, an FIV+ and FeLV+ happy Tailz alumni and love munchkin who maybe is just a bit on the hefty chonk side ❤️

Thank you all for your continued support and we feel horrible asking AGAIN for more help after such an outpouring. We don’t have words to express how grateful we still are. We have been able to share SO much food with others affected in our area thanks to you all ❤️

This is a cat rescue in Florida. They were hit hard by Hurricane Helene. If you can help them, they would appreciate it.

We are checking in with sad news after Hurricane Helene hit our area. Many of our homes went without power for days, widespread flooding, foster humans lost homes/cars/everything… All foster kitties were saved even in homes that flooded. As a rescue we went to our storage unit today and due to flooding we lost all 63 bags of our adult food, we lost all but 2 bags of kitten dry food, we lost all 87 bags of our pine pellet litter, and we lost ALL of our stored blankets for the kitties… Due to power outages we lost an entire bottle of Cerenia, unopened bottle of Convenia, an entire bottle of liquid Gabapentin, 2 trays of FVRCP vaccines (50), and 1 tray of FeLV vaccines (25). We’ve lost a LOT of foster space putting more stress on other fosters who do have homes to come back to (we had coolers too but when looking for more ice we couldn’t get enough to last through the outage)… While we were not hit as hard as some, we’ve lost all the means to feed our babies and keep them clean with fresh litter and blankets 💔. So many are in need out there right now, but if you are able to share or help, we can really use anything at this time. Mainly dry adult food and pine pellet litter (we buy pine litter from our local feed store where it’s only 9.95 a 40lbs bag). We have included a chewy wishlist (a VERY small one) of immediately needed items and an Amazon wishlist with JUST blankets on there. If you’d like to send a donation for litter/other needed items/kitty vet care/etc we so appreciate ANY help. We will need to purchase at least 30 bags of litter as soon as possible. Our president purchased what’s needed for the next few in terms of litter and small bags of food for everyone who needed some, but it won’t last long and she ran out of money. Please share and help if you can! Your support helps kitties like Sakura who is fighting relapsed FIP and reliant on a feeding tube for nutrition ❤️

Evie needs some PotP, please, and some financial help would be nice, too. I have no idea what she found, as I try to keep the shop clean, but she found something that she shouldn't have eaten, and she ate it anyway. She is now in hospital on IV fluids, in the hope she will pass whatever it is naturally in the next 12-24 hours. If she can't pass it, she will need surgery. This is the third cat emergency we have had in the last 2 months, so our finances are stretched thin. You can help by donating to either of the links listed below:

Update: Sadly, Little Black didn't make it. It seems the infection was in their brain. They started exhibiting serious neurological symptoms, so we had to make the sad decision to help them across the Rainbow Bridge. Their final bill was $1800.

Our newest foster, Little Black, is in the hospital. He/she (we aren't exactly sure right now) only had goopy eyes when we rescued them from the feral colony Friday morning. They were still active and spunky until Saturday evening when they crashed quite rapidly into lethargy and refusal to swallow the KMR we were syringe-feeding. We took them to Viking Veterinary Hospital on Sunday morning. Snap test for heartworm, FeLV, and FIV came back negative, and chest X-rays are clear, but bloodwork shows low red blood cells and extremely high white blood cells. The conclusion is a massive infection of some kind.

They will be in the hospital for 24-48 hours, receiving IV fluids, antibiotics, and oxygen. The bill could be upwards of $3000. We are accepting donations to help with the bill at https://www.paypal.me/QuiltedKittenFosters

We have seen Lil Black in our feral colony since May 30, 2024. We have tried a few times to grab him/her, and today we succeeded. We don't have space to put ...

Thanks for all your prayers. Georgie gets to come home in 2 hours! He has p**ped some, but not all, of the remaining pieces of rubber mat that are in his lower colon. He isn't yet interested in eating on his own, but he is stable enough to come home and live in the bathroom for a while. I will stay home with him tomorrow, too.

Update 2 days post surgery: Georgie's intestines are not moving. He hasn't p**ped out the remaining pieces that are low in his colon. He is still not interested in eating. Doc is trying more meds to get his gut moving. He still needs prayers.

2nd Update: The vet surgically pulled one piece of rubber mat out of his small intestine and gave him an e***a to try to get him to pass the pieces that are already in his colon. He hasn't vomited since the surgery last night. Still waiting on him to p**p out the remaining pieces.

Update: We just got a text that his surgery went well. We should get more details later tonight.

Please pray for Georgie. He ate something that was NOT FOOD, and hasn't been able to either vomit it or pass it. He is in surgery now to remove it. Our biggest concern is that possibly his intestines may have perforated and that any fluids leaking from his bowels may cause sepsis. Our other big concern is that he has asthma and breathing issues, so he may not tolerate anesthesia well.

Edit: the cams are working now. I only needed to I update XSplit.

I'm not sure what's going on with my new cameras. They appear fine in the Windows Settings Preview, but they are still flicker so bad as to be seizure-inducing in XSplit. The old camera is fine. Going to be just a single cam until I can get still more new cams. If more new cams still flicker, I might need a whole new computer, which is an expense I would rather not have.

07/06/2023

Due to the widespread Sparklight outage, the cam is down. Hopefully it will be back up in time for the Naming Ceremony for Tabby Boy at 5pm tonight.

06/22/2023

It looks like the cam is down. I am out of town, trying to find a facility that will take my Mom who has advanced dementia and very serious behavior issues. Don't worry, David is there taking good care of the kitties, but he isn't skilled with putting the stream back up. I will put the stream back up when I am back in town.

04/30/2023

If you were watching the live stream this afternoon, it's down now. I just finished changing the light tubes above the kitty area and I went to check the stream. The streaming PC was off, and I can't get it turn back on. I'll take the PC to the repair shop tomorrow.

04/17/2023

I have noticed that this page has been getting hundreds of new followers every day. Since I am not very active, this is mystifying to me. While I welcome new followers, please comment on this post to tell me how you are learning about me.

03/22/2023

The live stream will be down today. The streaming computer won't stay powered on. I need to take it to the repair shop down the street to have it looked at.

NAMING CONTEST FOR LITTLE BIT: EVERY $5 SENT TO MY PAYPAL, https://www.paypal.me/QuiltedKittenFosters GETS YOU ONE DRAWING TICKET TO NAME LITTLE BIT. GIFTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 5PM, MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2023. DRAWING WILL BE HELD ON CAM AT 6PM, MONDAY FEBRUARY 6, 2023.

Little Bit (tiny grey boy) is one of a mega-litter we started seeing at our feral feeding station in October 2022. There were at least 10 babies and multiple Mamas. We rescued him on January 26, 2023. He was at least 5 months old, and only weighed 1.5 pounds. He had some big seizures from January 26 to 28, probably due to sepsis, but he seems to be recovered from that.

Update. She has been found after an exhaustive search of the back storeroom. She was hiding in a tight space in a far back corner.

Granite didn't go back to the Kastle to go to bed this evening. We have looked in her usual daytime sleeping places. Signs are clearly posted at eye level to not let the Shop Cats out, and Granite has never gotten close to open doors. We will continue looking. If you see her come on cam, please leave a time stamp in chat. Https://www.youtube.com/c/QuiltedKittenFosters/live
