This is a particulalry special article for me as it preserves the memory of Hannah (right) and Luke (left) as they were my inspiration for the idea, designing, developing, and implementing of a truly novel buisness model in the pet cremation industry. It was written in November of 2009 after opening my first pet funeral home and crematory. Hannah and Luke touched my life in many ways but most importanly they changed the direction of my professional career. They continue to be an inspiration behind my passion for the profession of after life pet care with my second company Pet Passages. Pet Passages has helped guide over 250 thousand pet parents through thier pet's passage since 2017. Soon to be millions of pet parents as we continue to expand and open locations across the country. I'm truly Blessed to have this experience, to touch so many peoples lives not only through thier loss but also mentoring new business owners with thier Pet Passages franchise.

Mike Harris, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, is a third generation funeral director.
In the late spring of 2008, within a short two months, Mike lost his two best friends and family members, Rottweilers Hannah and Luke. Devastated by the deaths of his loving companions, Mike wanted to give his deceased pets the same love and respect in death as he gave them in life, just as it would be for any one of his human family members.
As Mike researched and learned the options available to him in the Pet loss industry, he was appalled by the treatment and lack of dignity and care these beloved pets received upon their passing. Everywhere he looked he found the same mistreatment
His loss then became his dream and dedication. Given his education, training, experience and family heritage, Mike knew it was his responsibility to improve the quality of Pet loss care not just in his home town but across the nation. He set to gather as much information and learn as much as he could about Pet loss services. In 2009, Pets At Peace by Harris Funeral Home was created.
With the instant success of their new pet funeral home and crematory, Mike realized that with his business model, training and experience, he could help pet parents all over the country. In August of 2011 , he created Pet Passages, a company that truly set the standard of dignified, highest quality care for the this ever expanding Pet loss industry.
