This is what my goal is when teaching place. I want a dog to go on it and relax and have an off switch and overcome impulses that it may have. ❤️

In this video I am teaching Ruthie how to set up to get into the heelng position. I'm using a food lure, to lure her to my side and if you notice I have her up against a wall, that just helps keep her straight when she comes back into a sitting position next to me. You also notice how many repetitions that I do, that's because dogs learn off of repetition. I am also rewarding her when she looks up towards my way. She is such a fun dog to work with ❤️❤️

From wild to mild! This dog is so fun to work with she is so willing! she went from a little pulling machine to more focus on her handler and lots of slack in the leash. Which makes walking her way more enjoyable

Sharing this because it happens all to much! Me and my 120 lb dog were walking in a heavy traffic area and my dog kept acting like something was bothering him, I looked behind me and a lady was letting her dog come right up to my dog and she said " oh I wanted him to say hi to your dog" I immediately asked her to back away as my dog may react. I have had this happen too many times. You may want your friendly dog to mingle but you do not know the other dog. Safe thing to do is let them meet from a distance or walking next to each other but only while under control

Let’s set the scene. This may become a bit sensitive for some, and I apologise in advance.

You’re out somewhere. You might be at a restaurant, a bar, a public park on a sunny day enjoying the sunshine with your family. It may be that you’re on your way home from work or trying to catch the bus. You’re just minding your own business.

Suddenly, a person comes straight up to you. They give you anxiety. What is this person going to do? I don’t know! The person is walking with a friend and the friend sees you’re a bit anxious and calls out to you saying “Don’t stress, she/he’s all good!’’ But they keep approaching you. And when they finally reach you they randomly hug you. Touch you. Walk circles around you. Start talking to you. Don’t let you leave.

What would you call that? Harassment? Assault in severe cases?
How would this make you feel?

Now, after the initial shock you find your courage and you ask the person to go away. Leave you alone. But the person doesn’t stop and instead touches your arm or your hair. “Oh come on, we’re alright. I’m not doing anything bad I’m friendly! Just let me be around you.’’You get upset and might push the person. Shout at them. If you’re a bit more of an assertive person you might punch them. Who knows.
Then the person and the friend get upset. Well? WHY are you here then? What are you doing in this public space if you don’t like being around other people? You have no business to be here, minding your own business in this park with your family without allowing me to sit with you, play with you, touch you, talk to you. Actually, you know what you should do? You should be more social! You should go more often to random groups of people.

_______
Do you see what I did there?
If you thought any of the above situation is not okay (and I sure as heck hope you do), then why do we think it’s okay to let dogs run up to strange dogs and say ‘It’s okay he’s friendly’?

What we do in the dog world is the exact opposite what we should be doing. We label the harassed dog as aggressive and the harassing dog as the victim.

Dogs have emotions. They have feelings. They have their own characters and personalities. There are many, many dogs that are not interested in making new friends or being with dogs they don’t know they can trust.

And sure, some dogs love playing with other dogs. Those are the extraverted dogs. Just like we have people that LOVE hugging or love making new friends even as adults, but to be honest.. how many of those people do you know? I think if you put it into a % its lower than the people that rather just are with their select group of people and be left alone by random strangers in public spaces.

So don’t assume the dog your dog is running towards on the beach, is willing to play with your dog. Being in a public space means you need to have your dog under effective control. And if you can’t call your dog back, it should be on a long line until you can.

Meet Bailey! He is approximately 2 year old neutered dark grey Labradoodle weighing 65 pounds. He loves people and is a Velcro dog who loves being wherever his people are-indoor or outdoor. He can be high energy or lay beside you for hours. He gets along with my 3 dogs but would do best in a single dog home or with 1 medium to large dog. He enjoys teenagers who will play with him. Due to his size he might not be as good with younger children. He has been to obedience training and likes the mental stimulation of training. Bailey is absolutely perfect for grooming. Up to date on vaccines and heart-worm prevention. Rehoming fee will apply to cover vaccinations, heart-worm prevention and flea/tick prevention. For more information please call Pam at 423-304-5930.

Lando went home and finished up his board and train with me. He was a pleasure to have and such a gorgeous boy! I kept having to remind myself that he is as only 8 months old. His mom is dedicated to finishing his training at home. Thanks for trusting men with your handsome boy!

Let's Talk Tools! As most of you know I use Training Tools. Prong collars, E-collars, head halters ect. I am not opposed to one or the other, I Use what works and if it doesn't work I don't use it.

But alot of people are afraid to use these tools, they are afraid what people may think. I will tell you that if these Tools have changed your dog so you can now walk him or take him places or give him more freedom then please keep using them! Not taking a dog out walking in public because he will drag you around or react horribly around people and dogs is far worse for your dog then these tools. They can be a game changer for some people and their dogs and I want to continue being a part of that change.

Let me know if you need any help or have any questions regarding these Tools 😊

Everyone welcome this GIANT 7 month old German shepherd! “Lando“

He is going to be staying with me here for 3 weeks to learn how to be the best boy. Lando's going to be learning how to walk nicely on a leash and all basic commands. This will be a great start as he's only 7 months old but looks like he's already full grown! He is also one strong dog so the leash walking will definitely come in handy! Stay tuned for his progress 🐾💙

Woody and Ellie went home today completely different dogs and I am sincerely sad to see them go! I have thoroughly enjoyed working with these two golden sweetie's. Their owners already knew the ropes from their last two Golden's and they did great!

Had a great time at the pack walk! It was a beautiful day to get out with the dogs!
