We are so grateful that Puppy entered our lives a year ago. He tests us constantly (don't all horses?), but not only brings us happiness daily, but has also been a much needed friend for Liebling ❤. She's inching closer to 30 and having a younger handsome guy has given her a much needed spark 💥. Thank you Kristina Hagans Hadaway for entrusting him to us!!!

Pigs constantly need to have their minds stimulated. They also need exercise because it's easy for them to get severely overweight. Hamster🐹 ball to the rescue! Here they are seeing it for the first time. I filled it with a cup of shelled sunflower seeds and they love it🤗
The slits in the ball are the perfect size to release the seeds slowly!🐷🐖🥰

The piggies turned 1 year old !!❤🐷
We bought some new toys for them (they love toys that crinkle) and MY favorite is the one that looks like pizza 🍕. The second picture is of them letting me know how muchTHEY are annoyed its not real pizza🤦‍♀️.

This past Sunday the donkeys finally made it to the new property 🙌 😍. The weather was nasty and the donks were NOT thrilled, but they are already loving it here❤. Saturday Stick Day!! It appears Miss Freckles has enlisted Groot to help with her secret stick project. I'm still not sure what the end game is but she is obviously serious business🐷. A month from now they will have their 1st Birthday😳

Chucky our rescue crested duck has had neurological issues (randomly) for years. She is getting older and what seems to be seizures are becoming more frequent. They don't last long and after an episode she appears healthy and eats/drinks and runs around fine. She doesn't seem in any pain. All I can do when I see it happening is scoop her up an hold on until the shaking stops.💔
Crested ducks can be found in any breed. Unfortunately people don't realize what's going on under that cute Elvis style p**f.

Unfortunately many people do not take the time to do the research behind the gene. The crested Gene is a genetic defect. The "Crest" in reality is just fatty tissue covering a gap in the skull. Best Friends💕 Lulu is outgoing and craves attention. Smokey is super shy and you have to earn his trust. They love each other even though their personalities are total opposites. Lulu encourages Smokey to leave his comfort zone. The people you meet that question and challenge you...The people that aren't just "yes men" are the people you should connect with the most. We can learn a lot from animals.

The piggies are LOVING the large dog bed that was donated. Unfortunately poor Groot has to deal with the other 3 hogging the bed. If you have a large bed you no longer need please consider donating it to these sweet babies❤🐷

We are heartbroken💔
A few nights ago we had just put everyone up and the crazy storm hit. Thunder, lightning, wind, hail.It was REALLY intense. The next morning we opened the duck house and they all came running out except for Frank & Alice. It's crazy how your heart tries to protect you from what you're mind is seeing. Alice had passed away and Frank was determined to not let anyone near her. I believe she had a heart attack. We let him take his time and once he came outside I picked her up and carried her away so we could bury her. I miss her little peeps and sweet soul and Frank is still mourning. @ Russell County, Alabama

Last picture for tonight. We had a large dog bed given to us and the pigs are in hog heaven! They snuggle on top when it's hot at night and burrow underneath when this crazy Bama weather gets wet and chilly-- like tonight (notice a tiny pig bottom poking out of the right side) I've always had problems asking for help. I know asking it for the animals is different (still a selfish struggle I guess 😞) Anyways....if anyone has dog beds or old blankets/comforters we would appreciate having them. Also any vegetables would be SO helpful to all of the animals out here right now❤

Update on the horses love connection. So far so good🤷‍♀️ Liebling is a German Warmblood Oldenburg (left pic). Puppy is an Arabian (right pic). Both in their mid twenties. They are stalled across the aisle from each other to prevent kicking stall walls and other potential new bad habits. Please ignore Liebs disheveled look. It takes her a few weeks after the weather gets warm to get her fashionista look on.

Here is Olga months after her bff Eleanor passed away. I have NO idea what breed of chicken she is (she has "a face only a mother could love") She's adjusting to living without Eleanor, but the 4 Orpington babies make her tend to hang more with the ducks these days.

Meet Brienne of Tarth. She is one of 4 Buff Orpingtons we rescued last year. Fun chicken fact: When you have a flock of hens there are times when one hen will take on the characteristics of a rooster. She grows twice as large, dominates the ladies, and can tend to be overly protective (aka a jerkface) towards you if she thinks you are attempting to hurt one of her flock 🐔🐓

I told someone that I would post some cute/funny pics of all the babies goofing around. I 100% believe that you can't fake your feelings around animals. I tried all day to get some good pictures and in all of the pics everyone looks devastated. Here is the handsomest model I have. I'm trying to exude optimism around all of them but he ain't buying it 🥺. I hope everyone is hanging in there...and anyone else with mental illness please remember this too shall pass.

When you are stressed out to the MAX, having 50% sweet but also 50% crazy piggies helps you find focus. I'm not going to preach about being vegan or all the other things people try to shove down your throat. I'm just saying that if you have something warm and snuggly that loves you no matter what the heck is going on in the world right now, you'll be o.k. Here is Miss LuLu working it to get all the belly rubs 😆❤
