Unfortunately this makes me feel more confident, knowing no crossing will take place. I’ve seen it time and time again, people are listing tamuks that look poorly bred, or crosses and this isn’t what I want to see happen with my stock.

I often see individuals searching for particular breeds that lay certain egg colors. I will shout it from the rooftops. BARNYARD mix are the way to go. The majority of the most beautiful eggs seen here are in fact from mixing my flock. I have anticipated my 3rd generation layers eggs for months now. And would you just look at these beauties.. I have a clutch of barnyad mix chicks currently hatching! If you’re wanting to start a deep dark earthtone colored egg basket here is your chance! Barnyard crossed birds tend to be more hardy than their parents and grandparents! Limited availability! Opelousas, La!

A select amount of South Louisiana raised tamuk meat composites will be up for grabs in mid to late January. Their parents eased right through our brutal summer temps, beyond 110 degrees. I am super excited about these litters and I have been eager to share photos of them! If you have been on the fence about raising tamuks which are bred for our climate, reach out to be added to my list.
