Potty training starts early around here! The pups are introduced to a litterbox style potty area that I gradually move to in front the doggy door as they're whelping pen area expands. I do this so they associate going potty with where the doggy door is located. Eventually I see pups choosing to go outside via the doggy door to eliminate in their exercise/play yard rather than inside the litterbox - once this happens the litterbox is removed and the pups are considered potty trained via their doggy door. Usually this is accomplished by 7-8 weeks old.
I have found that this method I use helps them potty train in their new homes in record time, many only having 1 or 2 accidents in the home and fully house trained in less than a month, some even less than 2 weeks. 🥰

The Acotar pups had a very special 1st Puppy Party on Jan 6th! Not only did they get to go on a car ride again, they spent a couple hours playing with the PreK students at Sugar 'n Spice, Carencro's Preschool, Inc.!!!
The pups had a great positive experience with children and we loved being able to bring smiles to so many faces! 🥰

This baby is very submissive. He also does not like loud or abrupt noises. It takes him awhile to come out of his shell. He will need to go to a home either experienced with proper socialization or willing to do the correct socialization with him. He will need to be taken out into the world frequently and given positive association experiences of the world to build up his confidence. Puppies do enter intense fear periods and his could just be stronger. He is a super sweet boy and loves to cuddle and be held!

Tiny girl who loves cuddles and attention. She has a submissive nature for sure! She didn't know what to think of the geese sounds and wasn't too interested in playing, similar to yesterday. Immediately took to stalking the toy 😅 He really likes to play! He also likes to explore! If he's not "winning" the tug game he has a habit of finding something else he can get hold of instead. This little guy is a fun ball of fluff! He absolutely loves toys and has since he was just a few weeks old. It didn't surprise me at all to see him develop a high toy drive. He did retrieve twice for me yesterday but wasn't in the mood to share today lol he wanted to TUG! I think he's going to need a job and would make a great sport dog! Pending Volhard Aptitude Results.

Yesterday he wasn't super interested in the toy but today he played very well! This is why I do at least 2 sessions back to back! He is still a low/med toy drive, I think it will depend on the home he goes to. His drive can absolutely be built up if desired otherwise he seems like he will enjoy daily play sessions and family life. Would be a good family dog and child companion! We spent some quality time in the whelping area tonight. Rekindling that positive association with her own private space! The comfort and lower stress levels of mom have a huge positive affect on puppy brain development according to Puppy Culture! By offering mom the best love and care we are improving the emotional lives of our puppies before they enter the world! 🥰
