What's happening: The "ring of fire" eclipse will be visible across the U.S. on Oct. 14. Most of Southern California will see 70-80% obscuration of the sun. The best time to see it locally will be at its peak at 9:26am, per NASA. It's the last annular solar eclipse that will be visible from the U.S. until 2039.

Be Aware Horses and Livestock can and do react to solar eclipses and those reactions can range from a slight reaction to as I personally witnessed years ago an entire row of horses reacted together by spilling and whinnying in their stalls...

US locations and times are listed in the article linked in this post

With Heavy Heart and Love, Sympathies and Support for Courtney Zarrilli STC says farewell to our beloved friend Midnight Star at age 30 years with 22 of them with us. He was and still is a founding member of STC and will forever missed but remembered fondly. "Starbies" passed quietly last night with Courtney close to him and STC would like to thank both Dr Wasmund and Dr. Keating - Equine Veterinarian Associates - EVA Yorba Linda Ca for their professionalism and compassion at this time of great sadness!

This is such a relevant topic for me to speak about, because Iโ€™ve been feeling less than due to my health issues and not particularly wanting to ride Blue, and even questioning whether Iโ€™ll ride Amethyst when sheโ€™s older.

The equestrian industry has conditioned my mind to think that, if I have a horse that I donโ€™t ride itโ€™s โ€œ๐ฐ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐โ€. If I have a horse that I only ride sometimes Iโ€™m a โ€œ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ญ-๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ž ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ž๐ซโ€. If I donโ€™t see my horses everyday Iโ€™m a โ€œ๐›๐š๐ ๐ก๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฆโ€.
If I donโ€™t compete Iโ€™m not a โ€œ๐ ๐จ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ž๐ซโ€, if I only trial ride I mustnโ€™t be a โ€œ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ž ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ž๐ซโ€. If I donโ€™t have the latest tack, equipment or clothing I must be โ€œ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐จ ๐š๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ก๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌโ€.
If I decide to keep my horses as pets I must be โ€œ๐ฐ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ž๐ฒโ€.
If I decide to treat a pony medically, who couldnโ€™t take me round grassroots Iโ€™m โ€œ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ž๐ฒ ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐จ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ .โ€

This conditioning is inaccurate, toxic and harmfulโ€ฆ

Iโ€™m here to say that, if you donโ€™t ride. If you have disabilities and limitations you are a ๐“๐‘๐”๐„ ๐ž๐ช๐ฎ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ง. If you donโ€™t have the latest saddle pads or tack, youโ€™re still a ๐“๐‘๐”๐„ ๐ž๐ช๐ฎ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ง.
If you donโ€™t compete that doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™re not a good rider, youโ€™re still a ๐“๐‘๐”๐„ ๐ž๐ช๐ฎ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ง.

No horse is wasted, if itโ€™s cared for and loved.
