Certified veterinary technicians Rose and Megan with patients "Grace" and "Elsa"

Grace the lab pup came into MVVH to treat an injury she received one weekend. She was patched up and sent home yet her family became immediately concerned when she continued to have complications. Grace lives on a ranch and it was discovered that she had tracked down and eaten mouse bait, a very serious and life-threatening situation! After a couple of days in the hospital and a blood transfusion from Elsa the Great Dane (Technician Megan's doggie), we are happy to report that Grace has made a full recovery. If you know or suspect that your pet has consumed any sort of rodenticide, please give us a call at (970) 644-5552 and save the packaging if you are able. We are open seven days a week for regular and urgent care appointments!

Dr. Emma and her surgery team worked late into the night to save Bart's life. We are happy to report that Bart's procedure was successful and he has made a full recovery! Monument View Veterinary Hospital is open seven days a week. We accept urgent care and emergencies every day. If you need us, please call 970-644-5552.

And this is why we do what we do- Steven's new kitten Pikachu came in a few weeks ago to see Dr. Ryan for a routine neuter. He was adopted from Loma Cat House and appeared to be completely healthy. During his neuter procedure, Dr. Ryan and his team found that Pikachu had a life threatening congenital issue that needed surgery right away. Dr. Ryan referred Pikachu to a specialist on the Front Range, but they weren't able to help. After a serious conversation with Steven and his mom, Dr. Ryan decided to do the surgery at Monument View. It was a success! Steven and Pikachu are quite the pair, and the Monument View Team is beyond grateful that we were able to help.

Halloween is right around the corner, literally! Superwoman Akira and Unicorn Willow wanted to remind you of a few ways to keep your pets safe while all those dressed up hoomans and candy is floating around.
1. Be careful around live fire and dressing in flammable materials
2. Keep your pet on a leash. No matter how well trained, pets can be triggered by the smallest thing and act out of their character
3. Keep your pet in a separate room. Tons of people will be ringing your doorbell, disguised and you don’t want your pet to get scared and run out the door
4. Chocolate is toxic. Yes of course it varies but just be safe and keep all candy away!
5. Update your pets information! Make sure your pet is wearing proper ID and has chip just in the event they wander off during all the fun.

If you are experiencing a pet emergency or need to ask some questions, please call our office. Our emergency team is there to offer you the best advice for your pet as possible.

Hello Monument View Family,
We wanted to share a special case with you all. Pictured here is Oakley. He resides in Anchorage, Alaska. He and his mom traveled all the way from Alaska to see Dr. Ryan, and we are very honored to have treated him. Oakley suffered from an injury that caused a severe fracture in his hind leg. His mom tried and tried to get him to a vet in Alaska, or anywhere near there to surgically correct the injury, but she was unable to have him treated. His injury was complicated because of his young age and the injury location. She heard about Monument View from a friend and called us to help. Dr. Ryan reviewed Oakley's x-rays, and decided to take on the case. Oakley and his mom flew into Denver and drove to Grand Junction. Oakley had a consultation with Dr. Ryan and new x-rays were taken. It was decided then that the best course of treatment for Oakley's injury was amputation. Oakley had surgery, and after being discharged he was cleared to head back home. His mom reports that he has adapted to being "differently abled" and is doing wonderful. We feel so special that Oakley traveled all the way from Alaska to get care from Dr. Ryan and the Monument View Team.
