Elsa is recovering well ♥️

This is probably the hardest post I have ever had to make...Elsa went into labor on Thursday in the early afternoon. She had a baby girl at 3:45, everything seemed to be going well. Hours went by with no more progress. We went to the ER to play it safe. Ultrasound showed 2 of the 3 pups had already passed away and the one left had a weak heartbeat. Elsa had an emergency c-section. We left there at 3:30 am with Elsa and her 2 baby girls. The babies were a little on the small side for our Shilohs, but the 1st baby girl (born at home) was such a little fighter. The pups were trying hard to eat but were struggling. We were trying bottles with not much luck too. I called our repro vet 1st thing in the morning because I was concerned they weren't doing well. We had an appointment for later in the afternoon. I spoke with a few vet techs throughout the morning and some fellow breeders and everyone told me I was doing everything right and the first 24 hours can be a challenge. At around 10:30am Friday our first little fighter gained her wings. We immediately took Elsa and her remaining baby to our repro vet because I didn't want to wait for our appt time. The baby died on the way there. We are beyond devastated that our first experience has ended this way. Our repro vet reassured me that we did everything we could and that if we chose to try again with Elsa in the future she will work very closely with us to ensure a good outcome. We have sent the puppies remains to Ohio State for testing in the hopes of getting some answers as to what went wrong. Thankfully Elsa is recovering well from her c section and adapting ok to not having her babies. I want to thank my daughter Maddie for being my assistant every step of the way and my son Brandon for driving us to the ER and staying with us all night even though its school finals time. Also, my wonderful breeder Jessica for all your help and advice along with fellow Shiloh breeder Lindsay for all the help.

I am so sorry for those of you on my waiting list expecting a puppy. I wish so badly that the outcome was different. I encourage you to reach out to other breeders as it may be a while before we try for another litter.

Happy Mother's Day! Elsa's x-ray showed 4 puppies. They will be born in about a week. I will keep everyone updated 💕

We have confirmed Elsa's pregnancy with Kristoff via ultrasound! We will be having a puppy count x-ray done May 7th. Stay tuned for updates! ♥️🐾

Anna is all hooked up to the holter monitor. This is the first step in the health testing our future breeding dogs go through. It is a heart test done in pups under 1 year old.
