A great deal of gratitude to for hosting our IEA show today. We are truly grateful for all the wonderful horses, competitors and teammates who helped make today so special.

While there were some who were disappointed today, every show, winning or not, is an invaluable learning experience.
Congratulations to Aspen Moran, Olivia Whitehead and Grace Mallaber for qualifying for Regionals today.
Congratulations also to Clare Jacobs who was upper school High Point rider as well as the leading open rider and Olivia Whitehead who was High Point middle school rider while leading the middle school to High Point team of the day.

Also an extra special thank you to Keira, Catherine and Alana who even while not showing today were there to help and support their teammates. (So much so that it was brought to my attention by the hosting stable). And as always, thank you to all our team parents who kept everyone fed today!

Extra extra thanks also to who we could not have survived today without all your help and support. We truly appreciate ALL that you do!

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen 🙏

While trying to help a friend sell a horse at the Bippert’s auction in 1999, I spotted this big bodied, very handsome 6 year old bay Appaloosa with a lovely trot being ridden. I walked up to the seller and told her that I had to have him and I agreed to buy him before he ran through the sale. Having had absolutely no intention of purchasing a horse that day, I first had to run home to get my checkbook, then had to walk around after the sale with my new horse and beg someone to give us a ride home to Skibbereen Farm.
This sweet old cowboy and his wife insisted that they would be going right by the farm and they would be Happy to drop him off for me and refused to take any payment from me for doing so.
Bill gave him 3 betadine baths before we could rid him of the stench and the manure stains that were up to his hocks and knees. His tail was banged right at his hocks which made me assume he had lived in a pile of p**p. He would stare up at the ceiling of his stall in the B barn as endless amounts of hay would drop from the hay drops in the sky. This was when we decided to name him Happy. He was happy to be out of his old life and happy to be at Skibbereen.
It took a little while to figure out the medical issues he had (which is why I’m sure he was at that sale) and which is why he ended up becoming a permanent fixture (as Justin Meyers so aptly likes to put) at the Hannon rescue ranch.

I never for one second ever regretted my “accidental “ purchase and do not know if I will ever be able to replace him. He has found a very solid place in the hearts of so so many.

Happy 2/18/93 - 11/25/24

I hate to admit that I do think Skibbereen has a slightly unfair advantage over the other teams when we show at Alfred knowing that we have a fairly direct line of divine intervention to God acting in our favor. 🙏

High point team - Upper School
Clare Jacobs- Leading rider of the day, High Point upper school rider, winning both of her classes
Gianna Gilette - Reserve High Point Rider winning both the intermediate classes
Amelia Lovell - class winner

Middle school - high point team with class winners: Olivia Whitehead, Addie Burch and Kylie Ozimek who was reserve high point middle school rider

Juliana and Penelope our walk trot riders were 1st & 2nd respectively.

Although Sister Alice and Jan were unable to be there at the show on Saturday in person, we knew they were praying for our success the entire day. To give thanks where it was owed, I joined them for Mass at Immaculate Conception after the show.
