End of an Era

For those who have visited us at The XbarH Lodge, you know what a special place it is. After hosting over 1000 groups of guests since March of 2010, the combination of the Covid-19 pandemic, the death of one of our founding employees, Michele Lobkovich, in February, and the decision by JC Lobkovich to begin a new adventure in life, we are unable to continue operating as a guest lodge. Therefore, we are selling the property.

The CDC is responding to an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a novel (new) coronavirus (COVID-19). We recommend following the CDC guidance. Zion is currently open and maintaining continuity of operations, but updates will be posted on our website and social media if needed. We recommend that anyone planning a trip to a national park in the near future check the park website and social media before arriving.

If temporary closures are necessary, they will be posted on each parks website and social media platforms. A summary of the NPS response, including any temporary closures is on this website:

This young buck is a frequent visitor to the XbarH :-) We call him Ear Deer due to an old injury on his ear that makes him easy to distinguish from the rest of the bucks. The injury occurred when he was a just a little guy (almost 2 years ago) so we've been following him for a while and are always happy when he comes for a visit.

It's NATIONAL WALK YOUR DOG WEEK! Did you know that the pet-friendly XbarH offers complimentary dog walking? How cool is that? If your vacation plans include destinations that aren't pet friendly, your dogs are welcome to stay in your room. We'll check in on them, offer some extra TLC and we'll even take your dog for walks while you're out, if you like. Here are a few of my recent walking buddies - what happy dogs! <3 <3 <3

Quite the hail storm this afternoon!

To celebrate NATIONAL WORK LIKE A DOG DAY, I'd like to share a few of Mongo's duties as the Official Canine Greeter at the XbarH Lodge! <3 He's very good at his job! :-) In addition to being super cute and loving everybody, he also greets our guests and makes sure that everyone is having a good time...Mongo kisses always help! ;-) He also supervises JC & me as we work, and sets a very good example for all of us, with his healthy eating and dedication to being well rested. I'd say Mongo always WORKS LIKE A DOG! ;-)

Momma #1 & her eggs

Just had to share Momma's reaction as JC placed eggs under her! Happy sounds! :-) Looks like she's going to be a really good mom!

Well, this is embarrassing! As you probably know, the Emma Zen Foundation raises funds for Pet Oxygen Masks for fire departments nationwide. This wonderful program provides the equipment and training necessary to help animal victims of fires and accidents, saving countless pets each year. The Emma Zen Foundation's annual fundraiser has been experiencing technical difficulties which have made it very difficult for supporters to purchase tickets for this awesome giveaway. Since our initial support for this fundraiser has been very limited (and we thank all of you who persevered and bought tickets!), we've extended the dates for the giveaway by one week and have a contingency plan in place, so you can still help Emma with her efforts.
