It has been 12 days since has come back to us after being adopted last year. We are so happy to show you the progress she has made. She has gained weight and made lots of friends, human friends. Everyone just loves her. Maddie has a partial sponsor, thank you Janice. She does need another partial sponsor or two. Once Maddie has put on some more weight, we will start working her on the ground to get her physically fit to carry a rider. She has given a young girl lessons just last year. The work we do matters and Maddie is proof of that. Fantastic news!!! has an adoption pending. We pulled Gypsy from auction in April this year. Over the summer we had 5 different individuals ride her on trails. She is an absolute great trail horse, scaling obstacles with a confident rider without hesitation. We are so excited for Gypsy and her new path in life. We will post final adoption announcement once adoption is finalized.

is back to work after recovering from her injury. This mare is the ultimate trail horse. She is completely sound and will go over most obstacles with a confident rider. AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. Let’s get Gypsy placed in a fantastic home before Christmas.

Ideal home would be someone wanting to enjoy trail riding. She will ride in the arena, however, it is not her favorite activity. Not spooky, solid under saddle. She can be antsy on the ground when saddling, however, this gets better with consistency. Flags, noise, obstacles, nothing really phases her. We are not adopting her out as a kids horse, however, from time to time, this really would not be an issue for her. Gypsy wants her rider to know how to ride. She is a solid 14.3 hh, has a beautiful smooth trot, would like nothing better than to trot all day on trails. She will walk and will follow, yet she is much happier leading. She is a super nice mare. Message us for more info.

needs sponsorship. He recently came back from training once it was realized he was not quite ready. He came to us as a recently gelded horse which was abandoned in a pasture for three years. He still needs to learn to socialize. He is not rude or mean, just doesn’t get what humans are about. Please consider sponsoring him as we give him more time to hang out with us.

Let’s talk about adoption contracts. We just had a potential adopter for one of our horses pull out of the adoption because she did not like the adoption contract.

Adoption Contracts are written to PROTECT the horse from being dumped and sold at auctions or just dumped. They are there to protect the horse.

If you approach a rescue about a horse, chances are that horse was let down by humans already once or twice before. Every rescue tries to protect their horses, so this does not happen again. If you as a horse person cannot appreciate that, then go and simply buy a horse on the market, though many sellers also put in right of first refusal.

Gala Update: We are extremely thankful for another successful Gala. Preliminary numbers have us raising net around $25,000. We want to thank everyone who contributed to this successful fundraising event. Our fantastic volunteers who worked tirelessly to make it happen, individuals and businesses who donated items for our auctions, corporate sponsors, supporters who came to the event, the fantastic band, and the food cart vendors. and each have someone come meet them yesterday. Gypsy of course needs to heal from her injury before an adoption can be finalized, however, we do expect her to make a full recovery and her wound is healing nicely. Bakari is ready and waiting for someone to see his potential and bring him home.

Marcia received our volunteer of the year award! She has worked countless hours coming to the barn 3-4 days per week, contributes her knowledge, muscle and positive energy, and has dedicated herself to getting ready for his forever home. She really deserves this award and recognition.

Marcia says, “Horses have always been in my blood.” She got her first horse when she was 12. He was small, head-shy and had his issues - it taught her a ton as her first 4H horse. She went on to show Pinto and Paint horses well into adulthood, also teaching both of her kids to ride. Marcia came to Arabian Horse Rescue & Education as a volunteer 3 years ago - and is now introducing her grandsons to horses through AHRE.
"I love being a volunteer. It allows me to contribute to the horses and give of myself, sharing my knowledge and doing what I love."
