Stand Tour 6-19-21

It's Saturday at The Stand! We have so much this week! Check out the video for a tour of the fridge! Lettuce, broccolini, Swiss chard, kale, basil, mint, chives, edible flowers, and....Sweet Treats! This week our sweet treat is salted caramel chocolate and toasted coconut macarons! Also, hydrangea bouquets for $5! So proud of what we have today. Hope to see you soon 🙂

Little Root Farm

It started 15 years ago in an airport bookstore. As I (Leah) browsed the best sellers, one book caught my eye. I purchased Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser and thus began my obsession with food. For my senior project in high school I focused on the history of food in America and took an organic gardening class in college. My husband, Mike and I have always had a garden wherever we’ve lived even if it was just in a pot. It’s now 2018 and one of our dreams as a couple is coming to fruition. After nearly 10 years of marriage and two energetic little boys, we were blessed to be able to purchase a home on a half acre lot in Oregon City, Oregon. As Oregon natives, we’ve lived here in Oregon City for a year and a half now and have been working hard to transform this once barren yard into a productive forest of food to feed our family and our community the freshest most nutritious food around. Right now we’re small and will only sell what we ourselves cannot keep up with, but we have big ideas for future growth. Though not certified in any program, we grow our produce without any chemicals and use the most natural of methods to support the plants and control pests. (If you see my husband spraying trees, don’t worry, it’s an all natural and homemade probiotic spray). We are all about building soil and believe our produce will get better and better as time progresses. We love to watch families on a walk stop to look at our 30 chickens and we’re happy to tell you that those huge dinosaur looking plants in our garden are artichokes, so if you’re walking by, please say hello. We’d love to meet you.
