On this week’s Meet the Herd Monday let me introduce you to Bear!
Bear is a big lovable spotted draft horse. He loves to jump and teach kids how to post. He’s even our go-to horse we use for painting during summer camp.
Bears favorite treat is hands down oranges and he’s not even from Florida! 🍊

We partied so hard yesterday that Sonya didn’t want to have a big shindig. An apple suited her just fine and we’ll continue to celebrate all weekend.

It’s Thankful Thursday and you know what that means 🤠
This week we’d like to give a huge shoutout to Nancy Adams DVM with Adams Equine Wellness 🐴
Nancy helps up with all our equine wellness needs from chiropractor needs to acupuncture. It’s a given that she’s one of herds favorite people! 😉
Our horses carry many people day in and day out without complaint (mostly 🤣) and chiropractic work is one amazing way to keep them doing so. A horse can be out of alignment or even experience stiffness as they age and this is one way to improve their performance naturally.
The happiness of our herd is always one of our highest priorities here at Circle K Ranch. As our only guests that are here 365 days a year (the horses of course stay all year) we do all we can to keep them happy and healthy.

WOW! What a Wednesday!
Today we hosted our first ever horse focused learning homeschool co-op. We have a whopping nineteen new students who are joining us for Session 2 of lessons.
Special shoutout to volunteers JoEllen, Elizabeth & Maurietta and staff member Natalie for all their help!

To make the day even more fun, we found a salamander 🦎 in the indoor arena. The kids named him Nemo & he found a warm home in our Executive Director, Todd’s office.

On this weeks’ edition of Meet the Herd Monday, meet Mac! 🐴
Mac is a 23 year old Buckskin Overo Paint. His registered name is Fleets Money Machine.
Mac was purchased as an untrained 2 year old and is owned by our Equestrian Director. She wanted to train her own show horse and feels blessed to now share him with others. 🩵
Mac was shown throughout his life and really enjoyed equitation classes, halter and showmanship. He even performed at the Kentucky Horse Park at the Parade of Breeds in 2021. He was able to showcase just how beautiful the American Paint Horses to a very large crowd.
Mac loves living at camp and helping kids learn how to build confidence in their riding ability inside and out of the arena.
Hooray for Mac! 🥳🎉
P.S. Mac’s birthday is the 21st of March so be prepared to celebrate with him! He’s the life of the party! 🎉

Tex is a 10 year old Tennessee Walker/Paint Horse cross that is leased to camp. Tex has a very unique color as he is a strawberry roan which is a reddish (strawberry) color and white hairs.
Tex is a favorite as he has so much personality. If you check out his fun fact you’ll know why! 🧹

On this weeks’ edition of Meet the Herd Monday, meet Cowboy! 🤠
Cowboy is a staple here at Circle K Ranch. He not only helps with doing riding evaluations but is also used in summer camp and lessons. He loves helping beginners learn the basics but also enjoys teaching riders to canter. Although he’s not a barrel horse, he loves feeling the wind through his mane on the barrel pattern. 🍀
Cowboy has been at camp for some time and loves all the staff members and guests. However, his most favorite thing is eating! 🍽️ He’s usually waiting at the gate for breakfast and dinner with Candyman.
Show Cowboy 🤠 some love below for all the hard work he puts in year-round.

On this week’s edition of Featured Student Friday, meet Collette. 🐴
Collette started riding at Camp Kern earlier last year. Her sister Nahlyn had been attending lessons when her mother started asking about therapeutic lessons. The rest is history from there 😄
Collette now rides in a lesson weekly with her favorite boy, Zap! Collette has really been working hard on steering and fine motors skills while in the saddle.
We continue to see great strides made each week and cannot wait to see what Collette and Zap accomplish. 🩷🐴

On this weeks’ edition, meet our oldest herd member, Apache! 🐴
Don’t let his age fool you, Apache is a rockstar in every way! When asked if he wants to retire, his answer is immediately no. He loves his job too much! Apache is a jack of all trades and is used in lessons, summer camp and as a guest trail horse on occasions. 🤠
Apache is our only Appaloosa currently and is usually everyone’s favorite because of his very unique coloring. 🎨
Show some love for Apache and the impact he continues to make each day here at camp. 🩵
