Dudley came to Wags and Whiskers severely ill, needing urgent care and a specialist appointment at UC Davis. Despite the diagnosis of a heart defect, with his medication, he's expected to lead a mostly normal life for 4-7 years! Dudley doesn't act like a dog with a heart defect, and he doesn't understand why he gets overlooked because of it. He gets along well with most dogs, though a meet and greet is always recommended. I'm Solo (DOB 1.25.23) I came to Wags and Whiskers because my owner got in trouble and their family was unable to house me due to my size. I have a lot to learn still, and staff here are helping me to try to learn some basic commands, I've finally got "sit" down! I am potty trained, but after being at the rescue for a while, I might need a little patience and a few days to get back on a routine of being let out regularly. I do well with other dogs my size or larger that share my energy level, but I prefer to be fed alone, since I get super protective of my food around other dogs; I'll gladly eat in a crate or in a separate room. I love to chase cats, so please don't apply for me if you like your kitties. I have proven well with respectful kids as young as 7 so far, but I do pull the leash still, so kids shouldn't hold my leash by themselves yet. My name is WALKER (DOB 3.22.2019). I'm extremely smart. I'm always happy. A couple details about me: 1) Yes I'm very big, 90 pounds but don't let that intimidate you 2) I can be skittish at first but then I'll warm up very quickly 3) Unique traits: I believe I am a pure bred German Shepherd and one of my ears is flopped down for life due to damage caused by the hematoma I had on that ear, which makes that ear prone to infection. 4) I'm neutered and I'm up to date on vaccinations 5) I have a high prey drive with cats but they think I would do great in a home with medium to large dogs. Finch (DOB 11.3.21) rides perfectly in the car, lays down & relaxes. He’s a very friendly, happy dog. He has great recall in the fenced in yard. He is young & active, but once given time to run around he mellows out well with a fluffy bed & peanutbutter kong ball. He likes to play with balls that bounce around and is very treat motivated. He sits quickly on command for a treat. He wasn’t overly interested in goats, but did want to chase chicken (he could probably be worked with to be around chickens supervised) He’d rather continue on his walk than deal with a cat hissing at him. He does pull a little on the leash. He listens to correction very well. Overall he’s a very fun dog.
