Tomorrow is Halloween- please keep your pets safe !!
1. Stash Candy Safely Away - It's advisable to keep candy out of reach for dogs because many holiday favorites are harmful. Get in touch with your veterinarian straight away if your pet consumes confectionery, especially chocolate.
2. Make Sure Pet Costumes are the Right Fit - Make sure the costume doesn't impede their abilities to breathe, move, bark, or meow. Chewing on any excess cloth might result in a choking hazard. Additionally, dressing up might exacerbate your pet's stress and increase their level of anxiety. It's preferable to keep your pet dressed in their birthday suit for the evening if they appear anxious or uncomfortable in the outfit.
3. Watch out for Decorative Plants and Candles - Inquisitive animals have the potential to tip over a lit candle or jack-o'-lantern, causing a fire or burns. It is advisable to keep pets away from these decorations, especially the corn cobs, which might choke dogs.
4. Don’t Leave Glow Sticks Out - Pets (especially cats) tend to love these and often bite into them, leaving a bitter taste in their mouth that can cause severe drooling.
5. Keep Your Pets in a Safe Place Indoors, Including Outdoor Cats - Halloween can be stressful for dogs and cats due to strange masks and noises. Keep your pets in a closed room where they can relax away from the front door. This will not only help them remain calm, but also prevent them from darting out the door. If your animals are outside, make sure they are properly secured, have collars, tags and are microchipped.
We hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween!
