The Save This Life microchip company, has suddenly ceased operations and closed down. If you had a Save This Life microchip and it was registered with them, your contact information is no longer accessible. This means, if your pet is found, there is not a way to contact you. The microchip is still able to be scanned, and you can register the chip with a new company.
Here are steps to tell if you have one of these microchips:
📄Check your pet’s medical or adoption paperwork for the microchip information.
👨‍⚕️If you do not have paperwork, you can check with your pet’s veterinary office to see if they have the microchip number on file. Most veterinary offices and shelters are happy to help you scan your pet for a microchip number.
➡If the microchip number starts with a 991 or 900164, it is one of the affected Save This Life microchips, according to Save This Life’s website.
⭐️We are able to scan for microchips at our hospital. Please give us a call to let us know when you might be stopping by; there is no charge for this service. The microchips that we use at our hospital are made by and registered with AKC Reunite, and are not affected by Save This Life's company closure.
If you have your microchip number, but you are unsure which company it is associated with, you can use AAHA’a Microchip Search page ➡(https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary.../microchip-search/) to look up the information.
If your pet’s microchip is not a Save This Life microchip, it is a good idea to contact the company you have registered it with to make sure all your information is up-to-date.
If your pet’s microchip is a Save This Life microchip, you will need to register it with a new company. If your pet is microchipped but the chip is not registered, be sure to register it. Some of the companies you can register your microchip with are listed here: https://www.aaha.org/participating-companies/

Xylitol can be found in a lot of products and it's now being labeled as Birch Sugar because it's extracted from Birch bark. It's toxic to dogs, cats and ferrets.
Check your peanut butter ingredients before you give your animals any and if they get into something they shouldn't have, read the ingredients to know if you should get them to the vet right away!
