‘Tis the Season & MC Pups Need NYLABONES!!
There are many homeless dogs at our county shelter, like BROWNIE, who will be spending Christmas 🎄 alone this year. We’d like to do something special for them to make their days a little brighter! A Nylabone for every pup!! The dogs love having a Nylabone in their kennel. It helps pass the time! But the shelter supply is low & the bones they have are quite worn. *They need ‘Power Chew’ Large NYLABONES (see photos) esp the BARBELLS (Dura chew up to 50lb size).

UPDATE: ADOPTED!! ❤️❤️❤️
ZOE weathered the storm bunked at a foster’s house, but now she’s back at the shelter in search of a more permanent situation. This girl gets High Marks! She is a very interesting breed, a Catahoula Leopard dog. Typical of her kind, ZOE, is Sweetness Plus with a touch of Independence. She is Gentle, Pleasant & very Easy to Handle. She loves her walks & likes to focus on taking in the sights. She’s a Serious Stroller! She’s also one who doesn’t ask for much, but is happy to seek Affection from people she feels Safe.
ZOE has her moments of joy of late, but also sadness & challenges. ZOE is deaf. It’s not easy being a deaf dog at a shelter. She misses the serenity of living in a calm, understanding home.

Dogs & Cats-prefers to live solo due to the challenges of being unable to hear.

Hernando County Animal Services overcapacity crisis looms with recent seizure of 30+ dogs and constant intakes.

HCAS has to make extremely difficult euthanasia decisions if they cannot bring the number of dogs in their care down to 78, by 3pm this Saturday, 6/22. Adoptions have slowed down, and rescues are full, but we know the power of our social media and our communities determination to help!

Whether you’re looking for a young energetic pup, an outgoing senior or a sweet cuddle bug, your dog is here waiting for you. Adoptions fees continue to be waived.

Water loving pup Needs a Home!!
Dream of spending your days on or near the water? So does BUTCH! He loves the beauty, peace & solitude. So different from his life at the shelter. Thankfully, he was able to spend a few days away from his kennel, but sadly, will have to return soon. BUTCH is a Sweet, Innocent soul. Everybody loves him! He’s Kind, Friendly & very Affectionate…. the type you instantly like. He is also Smart, Connected & Uncomplicated. He truly is the ‘no trouble’, likes his naps, easy to handle, fun guy who just happens to be deaf. Don’t worry, tho. He’s ok with it. He doesn’t know he can’t hear. It hasn’t stopped him from being Wonderful. ❤️

PLEASE HELP BUTCH find a loving home so he doesn’t have to return to the loneliness & isolation of shelter living.

URGENT‼️ Manatee County Shelter is over-loaded with dogs. As temps soar into the 90s this week, there are some dogs confined to outdoor kennels. NO MORE A/C INSIDE SPACE AVAIL. Anyone who has some room in their home to offer a dog some relief, PLEASE CONSIDER FOSTERING for whatever amount of time works for you.
Take a dog for an afternoon a/c car ride and an ice cream. The nites are hot and humid but the days are brutal. Shelter is in Palmetto, FL open everyday. TEXT

If ever there was a comedian in dog form, Bernie would be it. He may need some training, he likely won’t come when called, but his exuberant, bouncy, happy personality and meaty jowly face will keep you giggling and smiling all day long.

His squeaky toy obsession adds an extra dash of fun to his personality. Chasing after his favorite toys bring him endless joy and fills the play yard with laughter. Bernie needs a young, strong companion who wants to take this shelter sign with so much potential and work with him to be the dog we know he can be.

Bernie is happy to be the canine king of the house or he maybe willing to have a doggy sibling. We recommend a meet and greet to ensure compatibility. Bernie says cats are a hard NO. We haven’t seen him around kiddos,.

Diego came in as a stray thin and a little tattered. Sometimes shelters offer a chance for weight gain, decompression from the streets, and an opportunity for a fresh start. Diego is ready for the next chapter of his new lease on life—a forever home.

Diego is young, enjoys a good butt scratch, playing, playing and more playing. He is strong on a leash for his size, so if you are interested in an entertaining companion content with playtime in the yard, Diego is your guy. Otherwise be prepared to work on leash walking.

DOPPLER is overflowing with Cuteness! He’s an avalanche of Adorable! He’s so Endearing & such a Charmer, it’s easy to get hooked by him. DOPPLER is very communicative. He’s also Engaging & Expressive… he literally beams happiness & his tail goes a mile a minute when you talk to him. (Talking to him is how I got him to smile for the camera!) This young boy is Young, Active, Affectionate, Fun, Sweet, Loves toys & treats (takes them gently) & has a bit of mischief maker in him just to make it interesting.

Meet Rhea, a pouty lipped girl who is as sweet as can be! Rhea is a gentle and calm dog, who did well meeting kiddos at an adoption event she attended recently. We think she is a great candidate as a family dog.

We are still evaluating her confidence level around other dogs. We think there is potential to have canine friends if paired properly, so please bring any family doggy’s in for a meet and greet.

She walks really well on a leash, so she’s always ready for a stroll around the neighborhood. Rhea is a very loving dog who enjoys spending time with her humans. She is a hug expert, snuggle aficionado and sweetness personified! Let her loving spirit warm your heart and home.

She’s Fun, Playful & Good Natured! She’s also Alert, Pleasant & very Affectionate. She loves being pet & will lean in to get close. This pup has so many great qualities. She just needs to be discovered.

It has taken a while for Harley to find his way. He originally came into the shelter on 02/28/24 for safekeeping as his owner was hospitalized.

During this hold time, Harley had a constant panicked look, was stand-offish, and generally terrified as his whole world changed overnight.

Sadly Harley is not going home, and is officially available for adoption. As with most shelter dogs little is ever known about the lives they lived before. We do know his given name is “Harley” and we suspect he was a loved companion.

Harley has since come to terms with his new circumstances. But the shelter cannot be his final destination. Harley is housebroken, a lover of long walks, a great yard sniffer, and of course a game of “chase the volunteer” brings out his playful side.

Harley is chill and enjoys a good neck scratching. He is a hound mix, about 6-7 years old, and weighs 80 pounds.

Let’s give his former owner some peace and find him another great home. We have not seen him around cats or kids. Bring in existing dogs for a meet and greet.
