Dr. Villanueva grew up in a family rooted in the human medical field, so caring for others—whether people or animals—was always in her blood. Becoming a veterinarian allows her to live out that calling, which she considers both an honor and a joy. Her philosophy is to treat the patient as a whole, not simply focus on a disease, with the goal of improving each pet’s quality of life to the fullest.
At home, Dr. Villanueva is surrounded by a lively crew of beloved pets who bring endless joy and inspiration. Teagan, her spirited senior mini-Aussie, still rules the household with boundless energy, while a sweet kooikerhondje tries to keep up with her antics. Lilliana, a rescue kitten full of mischief, ensures no one ever has a dull moment. Dr. Villanueva’s horses and pony—Brilliante, Luke, and Blue—hold a special place in her heart. Brilliante, now in her thirties, was born on her family farm and has been with her since childhood. These incredible animals have taught her compassion, resilience, and humility, and ultimately inspired her to pursue veterinary medicine.
A native of Ormond Beach, Dr. Villanueva was raised in Central Florida and attended the University of Florida for both her undergraduate studies and veterinary degree. After graduation, she moved to Houston with her husband, where they welcomed two energetic sons. Their family later returned to Florida, and they were blessed with a third little one. Her three children, along with her pets, bring endless energy and joy to her life and remind her daily of the importance of the human–animal bond.
Professionally, Dr. Villanueva has special interests in diagnostic imaging, geriatric care, pain management, and soft tissue surgery. She is also trained in Animal Neuro-myofascial Release (ANMR) and Ozone therapy, and has received mentorship in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. Most of all, she enjoys the variety of care that veterinary medicine allows her to provide, helping pets and their families live their best lives together.
