We're opening some later availability in our service schedule for the summer. This will be open for new clients/ initial consultations first then will open up to everyone. If you'd like to move existing scheduled appointments to later please shoot us an email.

At this point we are not planning on holding another round of group classes until the fall. If you're interested in one of our group classes please still reach out, if there's a enough interest that may change.

Happy New Year!
I just wanted to jump on here and give you a reminder that if your dog is sound sensitive and/or terrified of fireworks, start preparing now.

▪︎Set up a safe bunker for them; crate covered 3/4 of the way with heavy blankets. Put the crate in the most interior room of your home where there are lots of walls between them and the outside.

▪︎Put them in the crate before the fireworks start. Be sure they've been walked and have gone potty first so they're comfortable throughout the night. Don't walk your dog outside during fireworks and if you have to take them out be sure they're on leash, even if it's in your backyard.

▪︎Be sure they get access to water if they're panting a lot.

▪︎Play white noise or "Through a dog's ear" music to help block out the sound.

▪︎If your vet has prescribed medication be sure to give them as prescribed on the correct timeliness. Many emergency medications for noise events need to be given hours before the event. Some may even need them the morning of as well as in the evening before. Be sure to follow the directions of the veterinarian that prescribed the medications.

▪︎ It is absolutely OK to comfort your dog when they're afraid. Just as it would help a young child that may be afraid of the loud noise it will help your dog as well. Let them know they're safe and you're there for them. This does not "reinforce the fear" like some bad rumors out there say.

Do you know the history of the KONG toy?

The amazing story behind the invention of the Kong toy begins with a devoted dog owner named Joe Markham. Over 40 years ago, Joe was faced with a challenge - his beloved German Shepherd named Fritz had a habit of biting on rocks and sticks, which had caused serious damage to his teeth. Determined to find a solution, Joe embarked on a mission to create a toy that would keep Fritz entertained and prevent him from damaging his teeth further.

One day, while working on his vehicle, Joe accidentally dropped an axle stop with an attached bracket on the ground. To his surprise, Fritz immediately grabbed hold of it and started playing with it joyfully. Seeing his dog's excitement, Joe couldn't help but be amused by the unexpected turn of events. He turned to his friend and proudly asked, "What do you think of my new dog toy?"

His friend, though not too impressed by its appearance, humorously remarked, "Actually, it's not too pretty. It looks like an earplug from King Kong." Little did they know, those words would mark the birth of the iconic Kong toy that we know today.

And so, thanks to Joe's creative thinking and his furry friend's enthusiasm, the Kong toy came into existence. It has since become a beloved and trusted companion for countless dogs, providing them with hours of entertainment.

Did you know there are different types of Kong toys too?

Red: For typical chewers.
Black: For strong chewers.
Blue: The strongest Kong rubber and will show up in X-Rays (just in case!).
Light Blue: For puppies.
Purple: Older dogs
Orange: Floats in water.
