Happy Trails Animal Rescue is a 501c3 Non Profit Animal Rescue servicing dogs in need in Central Florida - we currently service Osceola, Orange and Seminole Counties. We are a foster based rescue network - meaning our dogs are located in foster homes throughout Central Florida and not at a shelter facility. All adoptions, surrenders and other services must be done by appointment only - the best wa

Our primary focus is rehabilitating dogs in public animal control shelters that are struggling with behavioral and medical concerns due to cruelty and neglect - we specialize in behavioral rehabilitation. We are limited on the number of animals we have availability to house and animals in danger of euthanasia in public shelters take first priority - we try to offer as much assistance to pet owners in the community as possible, including assistance with training, veterinary services, and networking dogs in need of new homes. We are here to help! We are excited to have opened a first of its kind resource center for pet owners in Central Florida! At this location we offer a pet pantry with food, treats, toys, prevention and other supplies for pet owners going through financial challenges. We also offer free and low cost dog training programs, free grooming clinics, free educational classes and seminars, a service dog program, assistance with funding for veterinary emergencies, and more! 🚨EXTREMELY URGENT🚨
We have been trying to help Jeffrey's family find him a safe place to go through our rehoming program for quite some time. His family is moving and he now has until September 30th to find somewhere to go or his fate is uncertain.

Jeffrey is a 7 year old German Shepherd. He has lived his ENTIRE LIFE outside - the 2nd photo is the outdoor run and dog house he has lived in his entire life. This poor boy has never been a pet, never slept in a warm bed or lived safe inside out of the elements.

He needs a very special adopter (or foster) with the experience and patience to help him learn how to be a pet. He hasn't been socialized and we aren't sure how he would adjust to other dogs, he would ideally need an only dog home and a home without small children. We have met and evaluated Jeffrey and while he is a little anxious he has shown no reactivity to people at all.

Jeffrey's adoption fee is WAIVED (application and screening still required) and our organization provided free professional training support to his new home to help him acclimate. If you're an experienced home willing to foster, the rescue covers all supplies and care.

Please, please, PLEASE help us share Jeffrey. His situation is very, very urgent and the odds are against him. He deserves a happy ending. 🙏

🚨DAKOTA NEEDS A MIRACLE🚨
In September Dakota will have been living in a kennel for AN ENTIRE YEAR. 😭
This sweet girl desperately needs a foster (or adopter) with no other pets. 🙏🙏🙏

Dakota was originally adopted from Orange County Animal Services last summer. Unfortunately, she kept getting sicker and sicker and her adopters couldn't afford her extensive medical care. They showed up at our doorstep with her emaciated, with a severe upper respiratory infection and pyometra.

She was hospitalized from September to November! Our veterinary office worked tirelessly to find answers to why she wasn't gaining weight and how to get her healthy.

Once she was strong and healthy, our hearts broke for her all over again when no one came to adopt her. Seeing her living her life behind kennel bars is breaking our hearts.

She's 3 years old and a petite terrier mix (around 35 lbs). She's active, spunky and outgoing. She gets along great with humans of all ages (though she might play too rough for the very tiny ones). Dakota does need to be the only pet in the home.

We know there must be at least one family in our community without other pets that can provide Dakota with a warm, cozy bed and lots of stuffed toys and snuggles. 🥹🙏

All four of our newest arrivals have lived with kitties before and done amazing. Tyson, Trudy, Lola and Argo are all cat tested and cat approved.

I cannot say thank you enough to Andrea from Palante Nonprofits (and the UCF Center for Public and Nonprofit Management) for all of the hard work and passion she's put in over the last three months. If you're looking for help growing your non profit organization I cannot recommend reaching out to Andrea enough.

And a huge thank you to the incredible group of humans that stepped up to volunteer to serve on the new event planning committee that Andrea worked so hard to help develop. We can't wait for everyone to get to know you better and are so excited for the growth we are going to have with your generous help. You guys are all AMAZING. 🐶Experienced Shepherd Adopters Wanted 🥰
We have three, two-year old female German Shepherd Dogs that are all from the same litter that are looking for homes.

All three dogs are very well trained and have excellent obedience and manners. They are highly ball driven and motivated. All three females have strong personalities and are not getting along with one another - meaning we will not be placing them together, they each need separate adopters/homes.

They have a history of getting along well with other dogs in the home that aren't their own siblings and with another dog with the right personality and an experienced handler, they might thrive. They would also do amazing as only dogs, though.

🚨LONGEST RESIDENTS🚨
All of these adorable faces have been waiting over a year for homes of their own. Please help them find the forever families they have been waiting for - share their faces and stories.

All of these dogs are located in the Greater Orlando, FL area. Long-timers are available for a reduced adoption fee of $50. All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines and come with free professional training support through the rescue for life (including access to all of our fun group classes!).

We are sad to share that our little 16 year old hospice foster, Max, crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully in his sleep. We were blessed to get to know and love him for the last month, his joy, easy going nature and ability to love quickly and with his entire little body touched everyone who got to spend time with him during this time. Run free, little meep. 🌈 🐾

Bindi is a beautiful Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. She is wary of new people initially and needs a patient adopter willing to give her time to warm up. She's housebroken and a very polite, well behaved pet a home. No small children, please. Bindi also needs to be the only pet.

Max is the derpiest and we just cannot believe this silly, sweet weirdo hasn't had tons of adoption interest! We're hoping these amazing glamour shots by Melissa Blake Photography will help his new family fall in love. ❤️

Baxter update:
After two nights in the hospital to stabilize him, Baxter was able to go home to his loving family. The veterinarian suspects that this beautiful 14 year old boy may have cancer, but he's feeling much better and his family is making sure to shower him with all of the love all day every day (even though he was already a spoiled boy) for however long he still has with them.

The total emergency room bill for Baxter's two days in the hospital was over $4,000 - we've only raised about 1/3 of it. We still need donations and help to recoup after this huge expense. 🙏

Please keep Baxter and his family in your thoughts and prayers for continued good days. ❤️

There has to be someone out there for our little jailbird. 🙏🥹😭

Dakota has been living in boarding since September. She arrived at our doorstep on deaths door - skin and bones and with infections oozing out of her upper respiratory infection as well as pyometra.

She was hospitalized FOR MONTHS before finally being healthy enough to be cleared to leave. We were SO EXCITED for her to get that green light, but that excitement turned to heartbreak when no one came for her. 😭

In just a couple short months she will have lived a YEAR in a kennel. There HAS TO be a family out there for her.

Dakota is 3 years old. She is housebroken. She is active, spunky and playful with a typical terrier personality. She's petite at just under 40 lbs. She loves all people and is confident and social. She needs to be the only pet in the home.

Please, please, please share Dakota. 🙏 If you're able, donations towards her huge boarding bill are so, so needed.

Please, please continue to donate for our sweet boy. 🙏😭 Baxter is hospitalized in extremely critical condition. The total bill for his testing and treatment so far is $4,388. We had to pay up front already in order for them to begin treatment and we are in urgent need of donations towards this huge emergency expense.

Please keep Baxter and his family in your thoughts and prayers. His prognosis is poor. :'(

🚨EMERGENCY DONATIONS URGENTLY NEEDED!!! Current bill is $4,391 just to hospitalize, stablize and run diagnostics.🚨

UPDATE: Baxter is critical. He's being hospitalized. He needs a blood transfusion. All of his lymph nodes are swollen and his red and white blood cells are dangerously low. They know it is cancer, they're just trying to figure out what type and whether or not anything can be done. Please, please donate and pray. 🙏❤️😭

Baxter is a 14 year old senior we rescued several years ago from Osceola Animal Services. He's currently at the emergency vet after waking up in very, very rough shape this morning. He's lethargic, unable to stand, not eating or drinking and his mouth is pale.

The emergency visit and diagnostic testing alone is almost $1000 and we anticipate additional treatment costs once they have some idea of what's going on with him.

Please donate to help our sweet senior boy, and send him all of the healing thoughts and prayers. 🙏🥺

As many of you know, we operate the only pet food bank in all of Orange County. The demand for food has increased dramatically as the cost of pet food and the cost of living in general has risen so, so much. Many people who used to be able to afford gas and a bag of dog food each week are now forced to choose between having gas to get to work or food for their pets.
