We know you want your pets to participate in all of the goodies that Thanksgiving has to offer but please be careful when doing so! In order to make sure everyone is happy and healthy, here is a list of pet-friendly foods you can offer as a table scrap and a list of foods you should avoid.

In addition to what's already on the AVOID list, please also avoid feeding your pet ham or ham bones. A lot of the foods on the AVOID list are fatty (which can cause pancreatitis or other gastrointestinal complications) or were cooked with ingredients that are toxic to pets (garlic, onion, etc).

If you are unsure of a food that's not listed, we recommend not giving it to your pet to avoid a trip to the emergency room.

Meet our new groomer, Emily!! She is currently accepting new appointments for cat and dog grooms and would love to meet your fur babies just in time for the holidays!! Veterinarian monitored sedated grooming available — schedule a consult today! 🐾

Emily’s love for working with animals started back in high school, when she worked as a vet and kennel technician in her hometown of Boca Raton, FL. After working closely with a groomer at a vet, she fell in love with the technique and skill sets and since then has aspired to work in the grooming industry. She then began working for a corporate grooming salon, where she also received her training. Emily has over 10 years of professional experience working with animals and has been professionally grooming for 3 of those years. Emily’s grooming experience is also versatile, as she is both a dog and cat groomer! She loves doing breed-specific cuts, poodles, and de-sheds. Emily hopes to further educate herself in creative grooming and is interested in competitive grooming in the future. She is an avid Disney enthusiast, nature explorer, and a novice at crocheting. When she is not grooming, she enjoys spending time with her fiancée, their Pitbull mix and 5 cats.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and we are BOOKED with boarders! As we start to see drop-offs, please keep the following information in mind. Because we will have so many patients staying with us, many sharing the same name, please refrain from bringing personal belongings -other than food and meds- from home. We have beds, blankets, bowls, you name it!

When dropping off for boarding, please allow yourself and our staff enough time to properly and thoroughly get your pet(s) checked in.

If your pets are on any medication for chronic illnesses, please be sure to call us at least 72 hours in advance so we can make sure they're ready before we're closed for the holidays. Our amazing Hill’s rep sent our hospital administrator, Beckie, and our food inventory specialist, Courtney to Topeka to tour the Hill’s facilities.

Day 1: dinner, drinks, introductions, arcade games, and bowling!

Day 2: tour the Hill’s Pet Nutrition Center, visit the Topeka Zoo, and enjoy the great state of Kansas’ barbecue!

Day 3: tour the manufacturing plant and fly home!

We’re excited for their return so we can hear all about their trip and to share that information with our clients.

HURRICANE MILTON UPDATE:

We will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday this week due to Hurricane Milton. Tomorrow, we plan to be open during regular business hours, but this may change depending on the weather throughout the day. The same applies to Friday—we will monitor conditions and update accordingly

Important Information:

• Boarding Pets: If your pet is currently boarding with us or has a reservation this week, please call or text the front desk to reschedule or cancel

• Medications and Prescription Diets: If your pet needs medication or a special diet, please contact us early tomorrow to ensure we can provide what they need

• Emergency Care: In case of a medical emergency on Wednesday or Thursday, please contact Veterinary Emergency Group Winter Park (407-992-7753) or VEC Winter Garden/Oakland (407-644-4449, ext. 5). These locations will be open 24/7
