From my experience in Florida, fireworks start several days before the 4th and can go for several days after. I urge you to be prepared now. Every year I see posts about pets escaping, and I understand, some of it may not be preventable- but a lot of it is! Please feel free to share any additional tips that have helped you!

Let me introduce myself! 👋 Hi, My name is Tabatha! I am the founder and CEO of Charlie's Corner Animal Sanctuary INC. My mission is to rescue and vet unwanted, abandoned dogs in Central Florida.
If you asked me when I was a little girl what my dream job would be, I would have told you "to rescue animals!" As I grew up I basically did that exact thing by adopting my own dogs but I yearned to create a bigger impact. I always daydreamed about owning a dog sanctuary. A safe place where dogs experience endless love and care. My friends and family always encouraged me to pursue my dream but it seemed so big. The rescue industry was already so overwhelming. Could I handle that? I thought more about it and concluded I've already have my dog sanctuary and it just needs to be made official. So I did my research and filed for my 501(c)3 nonprofit. We are a small rescue but even being small, helping one dog at a time is worth it.
I got the name Charlie's Corner from my very own dog Charlie. Charlie is a very special dog named after a very special human. Charlie is very sensitive and sweet. He is always in someone's corner. I rescued Charlie from Georgia 8 years ago. Charlie technically started it all, so it's only fair I honor him.
This is just the beginning of a beautiful but hard journey. Thank you for those who have already shown your support and stay to watch us grow. We will be accepting fosters soon, but we still need to get a few things done before that. Such as our website and other little things. I will have a go fund me and other ways to donate to our mission posted tomorrow. Donations are tax deductible. Even if you can't donate please consider sharing our page or posts to spread awareness of our charity.

Hurricane season is less than 2 days away!

Weather in central Florida is *frequently* unpredictable, so having an emergency plan in place for your pet is always a good idea.

I always make sure I have a safe space for us to go, a spare bag of food, plenty of water and all prescriptions are refilled.

Write down important information! You may have everything you need stored in your phone, but if the power is out and the battery dies - it isn’t very helpful.

As much as I would love to be there for each of your babies incase of emergency, a nearby friend or neighbor is your best option. I cannot guarantee that I can make it to them in severe weather situations.

I know how hard it can be to trust someone you aren’t familiar with to care for your pet. Sometimes, a friend or neighbor seems like a comfortable choice - and I 100% understand! I started my business in 2014 with the hope of earning my clients’ trust. When someone meets with me and feels comfortable enough to let me care for their pets - I truly feel honored. I will always treat your babies like my own!

Jack & Chloe moved out of my service area last year 😞 I’m so lucky to have found friendship with their moms and was able to visit them recently. I miss seeing those little faces everyday - SO much! (Can you believe they aren’t related!? They are both rescues that just happen to look very much alike!)

As we move into the summer months and the temperature continues to rise, please keep the safety of your pet in mind!
The heat AND humidity can be very dangerous. In addition to burned paw pads, our pets can experience heat stroke and sunburn.
