A bike-powered urban farming program + a small-scale distributed agriculture system!

In December 2013, local Central Florida entrepreneur and urban farmer, John Rife, presented the ‘Fleet Farming’ concept at the IDEAS community think+do tank program called “The Hive: Orlando.” Over the course of the month, John and IDEAS leaders began to organize the concept into an action plan, and start implementation of the first pilot program in February 2014. O and 501c3 nonprofit organization headquartered in Winter Park, is the organization that manages and operates the ‘Fleet Farming’ program, in partnership with East End Market and other community partners and supporters. 🧡 Thanksgiving Food Drive 🧺

This Thanksgiving, and are teaming up to collect nonperishable food items for families in need.

🍎 With recent cuts to SNAP benefits, many households are feeling the strain of rising food costs — especially during the holidays. Your donations help bring nourishment and comfort to our community.

🛒 Suggested items include:
Canned fruits and vegetables • Grains • Rice • Dried beans • Lentils • Pasta and sauce • Oatmeal • Shelf-stable milk • Broth • Canned soups — and more!

📍 Drop off donations at East End Market now till Nov. 28th.

Can’t donate in person? We’re also accepting cash donations that will go directly toward purchasing nonperishable and fresh foods for local families.

🍼 Diapers are also welcome and deeply appreciated. We have a request for pulls ups for toddlers.

With recent SNAP benefit cuts impacting thousands of Floridians, more families are turning to local food pantries for support. In 2024, food insecurity in Central Florida rose by nearly 14%, showing how essential these organizations are to our community.

Sending out a HUGE thank you to our volunteers this past weekend at Whisper Creek Farm with our farm manager Jacob 🧑‍🌾 The team reset the perennial beds and finished up the basket bed so everything is ready for fall planting! Every volunteer day is filled with opportunity to learn more about growing food and maintaining plants and you might even meet some friends along the way!
