Bad hair day, but make it really cute! 💅

Meet Willie! Though this handsome 2-year-old was surrendered to us with generalized alopecia possibly related to stress, his hair has been slowly growing back over his time with us. Willie owns his quirky look, not letting it set him back one bit from trying to become everyone's best friend. As you can tell, he can confidently strike a pose for the camera anytime!

This oh-so-sweet and special guy will need a special adopter, as Willie has a heart murmur that will need to be monitored by a veterinarian. Willie is also positive for Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). While these cats are fully capable of living long and healthy lives, we do ask that he be the only cat in the home or be adopted into a household with other FIV+ cats, as there is a risk of transmission.

If you're looking for the most suave gentleman around to be your lap cat for life, come meet Willie at our Sanford shelter today!

Finally, it’s the glow up you’ve all been waiting for! 🦄

Apple Jacks and his four almost identical siblings were transferred to us from our partners at Orange County Animal Services after being admitted to their shelter with inflamed, itchy skin. At only 3 months old, these XL puppies were suffering from demodectic mange, a skin disease caused by mites living in their hair follicles.

Though it may look scary, the effects of demodex are easily treatable with the right medication and time. The puppies were first given a dose of parasite prevention, Bravecto, to take care of the mites. Then, they were sent into foster care to begin the journey of healing their skin.

Thanks to the dedication of our veterinary team and foster volunteers, it only took about a month for the group to begin to feel like themselves! While spending time in their foster homes, the puppies received medicated baths and supplements to help them recover. They also began learning critical life skills, like how to socialize with people and other animals, potty training, and leash walking.

When Apple Jacks and the crew returned to the shelter for their spay/neuter appointments, many with pending adoptions, they looked like a whole new group! Though we’ve now sent them all off to their permanent homes, we know it won’t be long before there are more pets who need extra medical attention coming through our doors.

🐾 Help us continue our life-saving mission in 2025! This Giving Tuesday, your contribution to help our pets will go twice as far, as our friends at The Sherry Chappell Cooper Foundation have agreed to match all gifts up to $100,000! Donate below or by clicking the link: https://bit.ly/4ia5iWb 🐾

Meet Theodore, Patches, and Hobbs - three unique kitties who came to Pet Alliance in need of life-saving care.

🐈‍⬛ After being hit by a car, Theodore was brought to Pet Alliance with a severe break in one of his front legs. X Rays revealed that the injury was complicated and likely wouldn’t heal properly, so the decision was made to amputate. Now a beloved “tri-pawd,” Theo has adapted perfectly to his new circumstances and can enjoy a pain-free existence!

🐈 Patches was tragically shot by a BB gun and came to us through our Community Cat program in need of critical surgery. The pellet was lodged deep in Patches’ abdomen, making it a particularly tricky spot to operate on. Though the odds were high, our incredible veterinarian, Dr. Andersen, was able to locate and remove the pellet, saving Patches’ life!

🐈‍⬛ Hobbs is one of more than 1,000 kittens who have been brought through our doors in 2024. She and her siblings had been found without their mom, all much too young to survive on their own and suffering from nasty upper respiratory infections. Hobbs’ eyes also needed immediate attention, as they were malformed and full of mucus. Though the prognosis was that she would be permanently blind, our veterinary team was able to treat the irritation in her eyes, as well as the illness that was causing the entire litter to suffer. After spending almost 3 months in foster care to heal, the litter grew into happy, otherwise healthy kittens who have now found their forever homes!

🐾 Due to the support of our compassionate community, we are able to give all of our pets essential medical care and, most importantly, a place to recover without a time or space limit. This Giving Tuesday, your contribution to help our pets will go twice as far, as our friends at The Sherry Chappell Cooper Foundation have agreed to match all gifts up to $100,000! It's hard to believe this happy, healthy, and loved dog was once living among trash and ticks. Thanks to your loyal support, Milo’s story has become a fairytale! 🪄🧡

A few months ago, animal organizations from across the state worked together to relocate 25 dogs residing on a property in Hamilton County, Florida, where they were living in unsanitary conditions without access to proper diets or medical care. Once rescue groups were able to secure the dogs, they were distributed to organizations around Florida, including Pet Alliance.

One of the pups who came to us, Milo, was completely shut down when he first arrived at our Sanford location. All of the new sights, smells, and people must’ve been overwhelming after all he had been through in his short year of life. He didn’t even know how to walk on a leash, needing to be carried to and from his kennel when he first arrived.

Pet Alliance staff and volunteers delicately worked to make the new experiences less scary using positive reinforcement like peanut butter and other treats. Though Milo began to decompress after a few days in our care, we hoped that the right home for this special dog would find him soon.

Only a handful of days after he arrived, Natalie came to the shelter to visit Milo and they formed an instant connection. While Natalie knew her new family member was going to take time to come out of his shell, she took on the challenge courageously and with extreme patience.

We’re happy to report that after only a few months in his new, loving home, Milo has made incredible progress with Natalie by his side! She recently gave us this update: “When Milo came home, he was absolutely terrified. It took a few days for him to even come up the stairs. Once he realized he was safe, he began following me around everywhere, and is now glued to my side. He has become my best friend. He is the sweetest most goofy buddy, and loves chasing lizards, spotting squirrels, and being the center of attention. At first I was worried, as the adjustment period was definitely a real thing — but now, I couldn’t imagine not having Milo in my life!”

🐾 Our ability to take in emergency transfers like Milo is reliant on the generous support of our community. We have a few extra small guests at our Thanksgiving table! 😍

As a cold snap was settling over Central Florida last week, 3-year-old Chai was giving birth to a litter of puppies. With the temperature rapidly dropping and no adequate indoor housing available for mom and her fragile newborns where they had been previously living, the family was surrendered to Pet Alliance for care.

After receiving a full veterinary exam and vaccinations, Chai was sent off to foster care with her little ones so she could have the opportunity to raise them in the warm comfort of a home.

We're thankful to provide a fresh start for Chai and look forward to watching Earl, Boba, and Jasmine grow up over the next 8 weeks!

Let's get our seniors home for the paw-lidays! 🦃

Meet 10-year-old Misty and 8-year-old Ceaser, two of our longterm residents looking for families during this special time of year.

Calico kitty Misty has been in our care for 4 months and would be a great companion for someone looking for a quiet, laid-back roommate. Misty loves attention when it's given on her terms, but prefers to spend her time sitting back and observing her surroundings between naps.

Ceaser the pup came to us back in September and is known around the shelter for his charming and attentive personality. Throw the tennis ball for him only once and he'll be your best friend forever!

We all love kittens and puppies, but encourage you to also meet our senior pets when visiting our shelters. You never know when an unexpected connection might happen!

We're so excited to announce that construction has begun on our new Orlando shelter! As the future home of the Kylie J. Capri Campus and Edward H. Hensley Adoption Center, this 25,000 sq ft facility will be a beacon for animal welfare in Central Florida.

Once open, the modernized space located on John Young Parkway will include indoor and outdoor play yards, air conditioning for all pets, an enhanced area dedicated to adoption services, plus a vegetable and herb garden for enrichment and natural treats!

The jewel of the shelter will be the 10,000 sq ft veterinary unit to care for ill or injured animals with disease-specific quarantine space for both dogs and cats, as well as dedicated rooms for neonatal kittens. This new era of our shelter veterinary abilities will allow us to help even more animals than ever before!

Construction of the new shelter is conducted by H.J. High, and the design is by Borrelli + Partners. The buildout will take approximately 14 months with an estimated completion date of February 2026.

Naming opportunities are still available! Help make a difference for thousands of cats and dogs in our community for years to come: https://i.mtrbio.com/ilqiypimom

Pet Alliance recently partnered with State of Hope, an organization that provides housing and support services to veterans in need, to bring free veterinary care to their residents!

On Veteran's Day, Our Downtown Orlando shelter veterinary team traveled to State of Hope's location on Lee Road, where they were able to administer wellness exams and updated vaccinations to 13 dogs and cats.

We're proud to have been able to provide care for these very special companion animals and were inspired by the joy they bring to their families. 🧡

Looking for love? We've got a 2-for-1 deal for you! 😻

Meet Pip and Little Guy! You might mistake this bonded pair as one large, multicolored cat since they're basically attached at the hip at all times.

Pip, the 1-year-old calico, loves to play with laser pointers and even enjoys being held! 4-year-old tabby Little Guy is a bit more shy than his companion, but warms up quickly with a few pets.

If you're interested in bringing home this purr-fect pair, come visit them at our Downtown Orlando cat shelter today!
