Sleek, majestic, playful and cuddly—what’s not to love about a black cat? Today is the purrfect day to adopt these beauty’s from either our Downtown Orlando or Sanford Shelter.

On the eve of National Black Cat Day, here are some Halloween Pet Safety Tips from ABBOTT & ALINA, a pair of adorable black kittens ADOPTED TOGETHER yesterday!

🎃CHOOSE COSTUMES CAREFULLY🎃
It’s so fun to dress up your pet! But consider keeping it simple – you want your pet to be comfortable and able to move normally.

🎃KEEP THEM AWAY FROM PEOPLE TREATS🎃
While candy is a big part of Halloween – people treats aren’t for pets. Chocolate and other human foods can be toxic for pets. Stick with the dog and cat treats they already know and love.

🎃PROVIDE A QUIET SPACE & ID🎃
Consider putting your pet in a quiet area of your home for the evening and that they’re wearing a collar with current contact information. If you choose to have your pet with you during trick-or-treating, please keep them on a leash to prevent unexpected escapes.

🎃AVOID FIRE DANGERS🎃
While candle-lit pumpkins give great ambiance, they can also be a hazard – especially for curious young pets or those that are rambunctious. Consider flameless candles. They’re safer plus you won’t have to worry about spilled wax or other issues if they get knocked over.

🎃DECORATE SAFELY🎃
Make sure Halloween decorations around your house are non-toxic and don’t have small, chewable parts that could fall off. Also, be careful with power cords for any inflatable decorations, since some pets may try to chew on them.

My kittens have all been adopted, and are all doing great! Now it's my time to find a forever family! I love ALL cat treats and purr extremely loud when receiving human attention. I was a magnificent momma cat and am oh-so-ready to be somebody's baby now. Where is Pet Alliance this weekend?

Friendly Reminder that our Downtown Orlando and Sanford Shelters will be CLOSED today, Saturday, October 25th. To meet adoptable dogs/pups, please visit them at PetSmart in Altamonte Springs today from 1-3pm. Pet Alliance Cats/Kittens will also be available for adoption there during their regular business hours. On Sunday, October 26th, we'll have adoptable dogs/pups at PetSmart in Casselberry from 12-2pm. Looking for adoptable Cats/Kittens on Sunday, October 26th? They will be available during normal store hours at the Altamonte Springs PetSmart! Thank you for ADOPTING this weekend at PetSmart during PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week!

I likely have limited to no vision in this eye, and there's no treatment needed at this time, but please know that it doesn't cause me any discomfort, and trust me, I won't let it hold me back from living life to the fullest! Always with a smile on his face, it's a picture paw-fect PACHO posing by our Sanford location's Sensory Garden.

Dogs have a strong sense of smell, and using their noses promotes relaxation. That's why we created this space for our shelter dogs to sniff and enjoy. It gives them a chance to engage in natural behaviors, reducing stress and boredom, making shelter life more enjoyable until they find their forever home!
