The music that I was listening to, that inspired my independence, growth and gave me the courage to start my own business back in 2004 was @sublime. I showed an artsy friend Sublime’s “40oz to Freedom” album cover and said “Can you make me a logo kind of like this but inspired by a dog?”… I know now days I can get something a bit more accurate & detailed but I remember falling in love with my logo the first time I saw it. It symbolized so much growth for me as a human that I never changed it in 20 years.So when I started my business advertising was very different. Today I feel lost in this social media world but to see Bradley Nowell’s son take lead in the band and Sublime touring… It’s like the universe is speaking to me. Inspiring me once again to step outside my comfort zone and explore this new way of doing things. A few of the service dogs we trained for @1veteranfoundation I’ve had a lot of “thank yous” from people throughout the years. “Thank you, I can walk my dog now”, “thank you, my house is less chaotic now”, “thank you, we won that competition”, “thank you, my dog stayed away from a rattlesnake” but it wasn’t until I started working with @1veteranfoundation that I heard “thank you, my husband took me out to dinner. This is the 1st date we’ve been since everything happened.” “Thank you, this is the first time I’ve been able to go to a movie theater in years.” “Thank you, I was able to attend this event and speak in front of a lot of people bc my service dog was with me.”… That is a different kind of “thank you”. It’s a “thank you” that I didn’t expect, a “thank you” that I don’t always know how to respond to. It overwhelms me and I spent more time crying happy/ humbling tears for this crew than I can count. Food, toys, games can all be great tools to help teach our dogs new behaviors & solidify old ones… Occasionally a client will say “my dog doesn’t tug or won’t play fetch” and the majority of the time I believe it is because the dog doesn’t understand the game. I personally thought Chess ♟️ was stupid until I learned how to play it. Once we find a good way to introduce the game to the dog in a way that they understand how it works, they love it and it gives us something else to motivate the dog besides food. #dogtraining #rescuedog #sublimek9 #tucsondogs
