This is a pic of the beginning stages of painting a chinook, it has a lot of layering and steps to go through to finish it

When someone asks how much do you charge, the reply should be… Not Enough! These fish take a lot of time and patience wich for those that know me wonder how it is possible. I’m lacking in both those categories 😝

In truth this chinook COULD be painted by just spraying on some chrome and color with some spots and a lot of folks would be satisfied…but taking the extra time and steps to paint all the scales and color layering to bring out depth and realism is what I think makes the difference in a fish mount or replica. So if you just want a fish mount there are a lot of people that do them and are cheaper priced that I would suggest to go to, I’m having to charge more becouse of the time and process it takes me to get what I like and am satisfied with out of a fish replica. Doing these in between my fishing trips I take as I am a full time fishing guide also adds to the delivery time on a mount. I’m not trying to scare potential clients off, I’m just wanting to be truthful and straightforward with everyone. For all of you that have ordered fish to be done through me I appreciate you and I am getting them done as reasonably as I can and appreciate your patience and understanding.

I will be only taking in a few more fish before summer but want to keep a handle on how many fish I need to do so that I can get them done by the end of this fall hopefully. I’ve been doing these fish in between my days off as I am a full-time fishing guide and do these replicas when I have time in between trips.  hope everybody’s having good luck and is fortunate to catch a fish of a lifetime.

Here is an example of a base that I put the fish replicas on. I get people asking what their options are and using a commercial base like this is usually what I suggest. They are light and stable when the mount is attached. This smallmouth will be put on this base.
