I'm good friends with a neighbor who is living with her elderly father, caring for him after his dementia diagnosis.

They recently watched our very senior dog, Murphy, while we were out of town. Murphy has a heart condition and he can't take walks or exercise, so his favorite thing to do is lay on the couch next to a human.

The father has completely fallen in love with Murphy after their dog sitting stint and has asked if Murphy can come for visits. So every day, we drop off Murphy for a few hours to visit.

The smile on the father's face when we arrive always makes me cry. He just completely lights up when we arrive. He asked me "do you think Murphy loves me?" And I said "I KNOW Murphy loves you!"

“Yesterday I adopted the oldest, sickest and most injured dog from a shelter.
I will never forget his eyes, when I entered the cages he didn't even bother to look at me, like he knew
that I wouldn't even see him, curled up in a corner, accepted his fate.
The volunteer told me several times... But are you sure about that? Are you sure about this?
Yes!!!
I want this dog, he opened the cage, I ran to him, suddenly he looked
me as if I saw an angel...
I took him in my arms and told him... Now you will be happy to
New. He fell asleep in my arms...
Probably the first peaceful sleep he'd had in a long time.
Give it a life. Kiss an old man.

"After leaving out of the store today my daughter did something that really made me stop and think. There was this guy sitting there crying and she asks me 'did you see that man crying? What's wrong with him?' I said yes but I'm not sure maybe he's just sad...She said, 'maybe he's hot and thirsty' she walked over to him and goes 'hi sir be happy it's a nice day it's not raining. Are you hot? Why don't you go home the ground is dirty?' He says I have no home but I will be ok. She looked at him with the saddest face and goes 'so that means you're homeless. So you have no food because you have no refrigerator.' She gave him a few dollars out of her purse and her drink and said, 'Please go eat. It would make me happy. I like McDonald's you should go there.' I could tell she made his day. On top of that 2 more people came up and gave money as well. We had a small conversation and he explained his trailer burnt down and he lost everything including his wife. I felt for him. It just warms my heart. A 6 year old lead by example this morning. AWESOME! Kids see no color and that's exactly how it should be. It's not just a statement saying that the children are our future, it's a FACT. That gives me a little more hope for the world."
