I am taking the month of December off, so this account will be quiet for a little while. I hope everyone has a happy holiday season! 😄

Frankie's first trail ride!

Comical "blooper" video uploading now of us accidentally hitting some sinky sand in the water 😬 Frankie did not approve.

Photo dump from the last 2 days of Frankie. I'll miss him in December while I'm on vacation!

Sorry for the shaky video. I wish I recorded yesterday's ride as it was so fabulous. He was a bit agitated by the flies today (can't believe I'm saying that in November), and being a sensitive horse, that's enough to make him not ride quite as nicely 🤪

But overall he was a good boy! We've introduced the baby steps of leg yields, trotting off from a stand still, and although not recorded, I'm working on driving him into the bit at the walk. He was a bit fussier in the mouth today, likely from us swapping his bits around the last few days trying to figure out what he prefers, but considering the changes of bits he still is doing great with figuring it all out.

Hoping soon to have some pretty walk to canter transitions going.

Frankie's first new rider at the canter! He did really well. Colton is unsure about the big warmblood canter though 🤪

Photo dump of Frankie's first English ride, with a new bit, and his first ride outside the arena! It feels like we got past all the silly, goofy, Frankie shenanigans and now I have a horse ready to work! He has a natural desire to move off my leg which is very cool. I am so excited to continue this guy's training, especially now that I feel like the sky is the limit after making our recent progress.

I am SO out of shape for English as I use different muscle groups than when I ride western, so I'm sure my next several posts with him my eq will be a work in progress as I figure things out. He was very forgiving with me today as I worked through the canter and my balance issues.

It's a little tough re-learning my English seat whilst riding this talented, but very large movement horse 🤣

Spent one session teaching Thor to sidepass to me and park at the mounting block, and the second time asking for it he acted like he's done this his whole life.

Super happy with today's ride on Frankie! First canter and it was so amazing! Taking things slower and little tiny pieces at a time has been key with this guy and it's paying off. What a fun canter he has too 😍😍

How I got started

Ever since I got my Second horse, Lacey, back in 2011, I wanted to be a horse trainer. She was very hot and irritable which made her difficult for a 12 year old me to handle, but she taught me patience and to never give up on a horse. After years of just learning how to control her, we ended our showing career in 2017 with one first and 3 top five placings at the county fair. Approaching my high school graduation I had some lesson clients and had started a couple horses at this point. August 2017 I made a move to Kirkland where my boyfriend, Colton, started attending College in Redmond. As a young adult I had got a job as a Riding Instructor for the City of Redmond, where I learned so much about how to structure a lesson and business. In 2019 I resigned from the City of Redmond after moving further north to Monroe and brought in several training horses and added many new lesson clients.

I aim to eventually have my own facility and run a large training program, as well as rescuing equines in need. All of my goals down this path took root from that one special horse. Without Lacey I would not have found my passion for training horses, and would not have been able to start giving lessons off my horses, literally, she was my only lesson horse for a long time!

Never forget where you started, and where you aim to be.

The picture is Lacey and I in 2013. Of course she was the reason for my cast.
