It's 🎉VETERINARY RECEPTIONIST WEEK 🎉!!!!We are blessed to have some of the most caring, dedicated and loving receptionists there are. We will be celebrating them all week long!! We will be introducing them to you throughout the week. Some lunches, sonic drinks and bagels are being provided by our wonderful Veterinary Industry Representatives. If you would like to help celebrate their wonderfulness, please feel free to let them know how great they are!! (Snacks are always appreciated 😉). We couldn't do what we do without them. They are the frontline warriors doing the best they can to make sure your babies are always taken care of.

COLD WEATHER ALERT: KEEP PETS INSIDE! 🚨

Cats and dogs should be kept inside during cold weather. It's a common belief that dogs and cats are more resistant than people to cold weather, but like people, cats and dogs are susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia and should be kept inside. Longer-haired and thick-coated dog breeds, such as huskies and other dogs bred for colder climates, are more TOLERANT (not prone) to cold weather; but NO PET should be left outside for long periods in below-freezing weather. Pets with diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, or hormonal imbalances (such as Cushing's disease) may have a harder time regulating their body temperature and may be more susceptible to problems from temperature extremes. The same goes for very young and elderly pets. 🐾

Take precautions this week and always remember, if you’re cold, they’re cold too! ❄️

Please remember that New Year’s Eve can be a scary time for pets with fireworks outdoors and the party-like atmosphere in many homes. It helps to create a “safe place” for your pet in the home where they can remain calm away from the loud noise and guests. Close blinds, play music, or simply just love on your furry family members. Just be a calming, gentle, quiet source of comfort and security in the safest place you can create for your pet.🫶🏼

Osage Animal Hospital will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 5th and 6th for continuing education for our staff. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will be returning and taking phone calls on Wednesday from 8-5. However, we will not be taking appointments. We will reopen for regular business on Thursday, December 7th.

We would like to provide our pet owners with the Missouri Veterinary Medical Associations most current update on the respiratory infection that has recently been reported in some media/social media outlets. At this time, there have been no cases of such infection in Missouri. If you have any questions regarding your pets health please reach out to your veterinarian. We currently have no evidence to suggest dogs should avoid their normal visits to dog parks, boarding facilities or groomers here in Missouri.
