Day 3 at the Along For The Ride Symposium. Been a great morning so far. The whole group covering how to warm up the finished horse. Then Anna Buffini doing a dressage freestyle on Diva and then her and Andrea swapped horses and went through all of each discipline’s maneuvers. Now Todd Bergen before lunch break going over taking a cow down the fence.

Day 2 of the Along for the Ride Symposium in the books! Luca Fappani going in to day 2 with a 2 year old . Todd Bergen covering how he introduces and starts his horses on the Cow. Bud Lyon riding Romeo 2024 AQHA Superhorse going over Ranch Riding and Trail training techniques. Andrea Fappani, Shawn Flarida, Todd Bergen, Luca Fappani, and Bud Lyon wrapping up the day in the arena working on problem solving issues in the spins, stops, rundowns, and transitions with horses that had issues truly demonstrating it and discussing each other’s techniques.

This long yearling has about 15 rides on her. She is going to make a great all around or Ranch Horse. Super smart, pretty Grulla color, Very nice pedigree, and should mature around 15.3 hands if not a little bigger. She is available, pedigree and side profile picture in comments. Feel free to inquire. We don’t push hard when we start them at this age short rides and multiple days off after 3 or 4 rides. We also don’t lunge any of them after first ride, we believe in starting them how you want them to be as an adult.

Update on Cannonball:
I started really working him on the lunge line. I worked him over poles then added in a sursingle. He is really building muscle and coming into himself. He doesn't take very many "goosy" steps and he knows where his back legs are now.
Yesterday Osten put his first ride on him. He took it all like a trooper and did great.
He has a ways to go, but has made leaps and bounds in the past couple months.
I just restarted the Bemer treatment on his 5 times a week.

🔷️it's update time for Rued Boy "Cannonball"🔷️
✴️ Dr. Brian came and evaluated him and his diagnosis was neurological like we thought. He is on Protazil twice a week for 4 weeks.
✴️He is stalled at night and turned out during the day.
✴️Monday I will start lunging him and eventually add ground poles and a sursingle.
✴️ He gets the Bemer Blanket on 5 times a week.
✴️Just finished a Safeguard power-pac.
✴️His hair coat has a shine to it and is a lot softer to touch.
✴️He is losing his potbelly.

We are going to do something a little different. We bought Rued Boy, "Cannonball", a 2022 AQHA Gelding (Spooks Gotta Spark X Groovin Rue)on October 2nd. He came with some unknown issues. The previous owners did their best and went down many avenues to figure it out , but came to a dead end. In this post, I will introduce him and give you his background. I will make weekly post about his progress and any updates.
✴️Background Info✴️
Was at a trainer as a long yearling being fitted.
**Jan 2024- Failed a PPE, vet determined Wobblers recommended euthanasia. Owners wanted a second opinion so they brought him home.
**Feb 2024- got a 2nd opinion. Undetermined diagnosis. They did a round of EPM meds. They also did high dose of Vitamin E for 90 days. His neck and poll were X-rayed and no defects were found.
**April 2024- was gave 5 way and rabies vaccinations.
**May 2024- He was gelded and had wolf teeth removed. He was then turned out to pasture.

Hair coat : short, fuzzy, sun bleached
He is getting a custom feed mix: 14% protein/12%fat
Alfalfa hay: free choice
Stalled with daily turn out
Bemer blanket and cuffs daily

Lucky Lil Trick (Niall) made his show appearance at the Heartland Buckskin Horse Association . Braden showed him in All-Breed Stallion Halter. They placed 1st under 3 judges and 2nd under 1 judge. He took everything in stride and was very well behaved. Christopher interrupted Niall's nap time and had to put his show halter on while he was still laying down. This boy is definitely going to be a special one!!
