Smee
I have a thing for Mohawks!
Welcome Mr Smee!
More details on the handsome fellow once heās settled in š
Mel
Just playing with my baby horse, Mel, on this dreary/gross day.
I prefer to have a relationship with my horses in the sense that we understand each other and treat each other with kindness and fairness.
After returning from our first show of the year (which I still havenāt posted about š
) I personally was quickly reminded that myself and anyone in my program are learning to have true horsemanship- a partnership- with our horses.
The amount of unnecessary corrections being made on horses for not performing the way they are wanted to is totally not cool. Anywhere.
Anywho, here is my super awesome 3yo mare- actively engaging with me, thinking, wanting to participate with me, and having a good time.

Saint
Saintās canter is coming along well!
He was offering to buck during the canter departure in the beginning of his time with me. This is him today, on his weaker (right) lead. He has gained more confidence, balance, and relaxation during his riding work outs. He is so fun!
Saint
This is Saint!
The last two weeks I have been working on this big, handsome guy for his owner. Some issues she was having included him shying away from the block- making getting on him difficult since he is a BIG dude.
He now parallel parks better than most people, and is quickly learning that the block is now a comfortable place to be.
A little time, trust, and patience goes a long way.
This video came up in my memories for 2023.
I miss the grass, sounds of the birds, and slick & shiny horses.
I go back and forth letting this one go, and then I find clips like this and realize how much trust and loyalty this young horse has for me.
He will make a really nice partner when heās grown up.
Remember to take the time and enjoy the horse š„°
Dusty
5th (?) ride back since sitting all summer. He is going to be a fun horse to jog around on.
BriElle and Teddy š“
Proud trainer moment! š¤©
BriElle has been working so hard. The beginning of the summer we were working on figuring out HOW to canter in the saddle. This week here she is going around bareback. Her skill and confidence level has improved so much. Now we work on getting quieter cues and staying consistent. So so proud of this girl!
Do not hesitate to reach out if youāre looking for help in reaching your goals!
Little Bubbles first go at ponying tonight.
She is also showcasing her fun pony mare personality šš¹ Thankful for Trouble dealing with her mighty attitude!
How quietly can you communicate with your horse?
I Intentionally left the audio on in this video. If you listen closely, you do not hear any yelling, chasing, cracking of the whip, ect. This is the end goal for all of my horses on the lunge.
-Now, Iām not saying using verbal cues is not important or should not be done.. It is actually very important in teaching when to forward and when to stop. And is still used as needed.
This mare is at the point she is relaxed enough with me to be attentive and hear what Iām saying, even though thereās no noise. She is moving off of my body language and paying attention to how I present myself to her. Every time she is at a halt, her ears are looking and sheās waiting for my next question.
This took time, especially with this pony. When I got her she was shy and unsure of all people. Haltering was even a chore.
She is now my first pick of the day to work with. She has a sharp mind and is willing to work. I am excited for her future as Iāve decided to -hopefully- keep her for my personal horse.
A special post for Trouble and her teen, Cailey. They have been working so hard together throughout the winter and spring. We had a goal of doing ranch type classes and shows with Miss Trouble as that is what I am changing my own main focus to. We stayed late after I convinced Cailey into entering open ranch rail(also their first canter class). She won her class out of 9(?) first, first place for the team as well. A great way to end the day. Even got compliments from the judge afterward. Proud trainer moment. š¤© way to go Cailey š„³š¦ And as always, pets for the pony!
From the pony who wouldnāt load to a pony who hops right in! Good girl Mabel! It is important to both the horseās and my safety that loading and unloading is easy, and not something to stress over.
She is FOR SALE šš
Just 2yo thingsā¦
Taking our time and getting the hang of this showmanship thing for this guyš“
And of course lots of pets for being such a good boy.
