Temperature out here in Osteen is only 83 degrees unlike the ones in the upper nineties on the tv news station right now for temps all around the viewing area! This was one of the many fringe benefits of moving the positive dog training club out here to Osteen. 😁

He was a charming talented when he two-stepped his way into our PuppyLove classes, and is still capturing hearts everywhere. Attached is his first competition and he won his class. You see the car setup because the competition rules require that all of that be on camera.

Finding it hard to fit in all you want to work on with so many cool dog events out there? Our Mon. night Obedience-Agility-Rally combo class starting at 6 p.m. lets you play with the pieces you want to work on. Most weeks you have input on which exercises you want to cover. Drop-ins require approval in advance due to limiting numbers in the sessions. Friendly dogs with some recall skills please. You can also check out upcoming schedules for our single-topics sessions: Detour Doggie Delinquents for dogs with social issues, agility mini workshops (focus on separate topics or equipment like weave poles, contacts or jumps), distance work in obedience & agility, scent articles (yes, we noticed how many instructors have adopted some our scent stuff and we love that!), heeling etc.

Having trouble deciding whether you want to work on agility or obedience competition, or maybe rally this week or this month? Twice each week (Thurs. & Sat. mornings) we pair an hour of agility with an hour of obedience/rally, and in our small classes you can have some input on the things you need. On Monday nights you get alternating agility, obedience and rally exercises from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

An extra orientation, which is Week 1 for PuppyLove & Basic Manners series, begins at 9 a.m. Sun. Oct, 16 at our Osteen location (follow our driving directions to avoid getting stuck in nearby sugar sand). Bring hungry rested pup with real-food treats like lunch meat and cheese. You can finish your paperwork for this one session if you can make and still get your pre-signup discounts.

We are back at our site anc back on schedule with family friendly positive dog training. Osteen Maytown RD has dried out for the drive.
If you are struggling with weather or other Hurricane Ian-related issues, stay home for now & come back when you can with full credit toward your series when ready for the next 6 through April 2023, or talk to us about longer special needs).
We will continue, as always, to accomodate "snow birds" (students, usually seniors, who live in Florida only in the cooler months).
Work study (where you help out on projects or with general chores here) and barter options are available, as always.

Most likely back to classes at 1835 Oak Haven Plantation RD on Wed. Last night (Sun. Oct. 9) there was still one short stretch where one lane is awash on Osteen Maytown RD. Cars coming from both directions have to alternate going through slowly in the single remaining lane which had average Fla.-size-rainstorm puddles on it.

Moving classes for a day or so, but our Osteen site is high and dry after Hurricane Ian:
We're back at our site since we successfully drove our small SUV slowly through the water on Osteen Maytown Road Sat. afternoon, Oct. 8. Water on Osteen Maytown RD is dropping but is still limited to one vehicle through at a time.
At least for the first of the week (Oct. 10 and likely through Wed.) we are moving classes to other locations for an easier drive for our students.
Mon. morning sessions Oct. 10 will be at a nearby Enterprise site.
Mon. evening PuppyLove & advanced obedience/agility group will move to another nearby location in Lake Helen just north of Howland Blvd. to provide additonal parking space.

Safe, supervised, fun introduction to agility equipment is a free optional add-on to Best Paw Forward Inc. beginner & intermediate training levels. Handler and friendly-dog teams move up to more advanced agility classes at 9 a.m. Thursdays or Saturdays, or our special advanced agility-obedience competition combined 90-minute session at 7:30 p.m. Monday nights.

NO CLASSES, NO ORIENTATION ON MON. JULY 4. Stay safe traveling, at fireworks celebrations, and in water fun. Most pets will not enjoy the noisy events so leave them safe at home, indoors of course.

Summer weather means (usually) afternoon showers here in Central Florida. When the weather gets drippy, we move class into our home on the property. We also have misters & fans to cool off the covered training area, in addition to enjoying our 5-10 degree lower temperatures out here in the green countryside.
