Benz has always had 100% focus 100% of the time and has a true love to hunt. He wants to please and he will go as hard as he can until he can’t, so if you ever see him slow down you better stop and take him home because his body is about to shut down. We have never had any pups from him yet but have some planned. Holler if you want to get on the list or if you have a female and looking for a stud. If you asked Siri what the perfect British fox red lab stud dog looks like she would send you a pic of this dog. 😘

This pup turns 2 in about month and we will be doing OFA hips and elbows and genetic testing to get things ready for a litter from her in the future.

Well look at what we have here, the newest addition to the kennel. Meet miss honey, She comes from a couple imported dogs that Mr Bill at the Mossy Oak kennel brought over across the big pond. We are excited to bring another British bloodline into the kennel. She has FTCH Drumgoose Warlord on sire side and FTCH Nettle Brae Andy of Fendawood on the dam side. Watch out for this firecracker in the future.

Benz rocked some outstanding retrieves the last 2 days of the season. Water to ice to water over the levee to backside into the timber. Super proud of this guy now 3.5 years old and he has settled into a tremendous dog. He does it his way that allows him to retrieve the most ducks and does it quiet in the blind with nothing more than a wagging tail. These British Labs are just special. We might be looking at a potential spring early summer litter from him. It will be his first let us know if you want your own Fox Red.

Very happy to host these gentleman and the future of the sport young gentlemen this morning. This is MossyOakKhaki and she is the mother to our own BenzHondo stud dog. We met Kevin and his family years ago when we picked up our little Benz at 7 weeks old. Fast Fwd 3.5 years and we get to share a blind. Good times.

We took our female Tymbee out on her first ever upland hunt and not only did she kill it but she about showed up a good pair of shorthairs pointing several pheasants and holding solid.
We might be looking at breeding her with one of the best Fox Red pointing labs in the country to produce a line of upland dogs in the future.

Fun morning for our little female pup Blaze to experience her first duck hunt. She delivered several birds to hand and hunted up some dead birds out of the standing corn. Good learning experience for her.

Our next planned litter is likely going to be the last litter for our Tymbee girl and we are planning to use our sire Benz. He is out of Southern Oak Kennels “Morayglen Hondo”
This all fox red litter should be here in January if the heat cycle comes on time. We have had several folks ask to be notified for a pup out of Tymbee so now is your chance to get on the list.

We kept a black male pup from this last litter with intent on keeping him in the kennel but plans have changed. We will make someone a good deal on him if we can find a good home that will love on him and hunt him. He knows basic obedience and loves to retrieve. He has a lot of drive but I would not consider him a fire breather right now. Just a very green puppy that needs some time and I have no doubt he will become anything you want AKC registered, all shots, and kept up on wormer and flea and tick monthly.

Copied and Pasted from Barton’s post on the Southern Oak Kennel page. I agree 100% and have made mention of this before. I am no expert but have learned to let these dogs grow up before rolling hard into formalized training. Can ruin one really fast in my opinion. Pic of our Stud dog out of Southern Oaks “Red” when he was about 1 1/2. He is a 10 out of 10 on the drive scale.

“A couple of breeding & training discussion points I’ve been mulling around recently… would love to hear from you guys on them!

1. The stud deserves credit, but not THAT much credit… I constantly hear things like “well, you know the Red pups always…” or “yeah that’s how the Moose pups…”

In my opinion, the bitch should always get more credit here! Sure, there are some clear characteristics passed on consistently from sires… but behaviorally speaking, I think we are giving the boys a bit too much credit, whether good or bad.

2. These dogs mature slowly. Much more so than some American lines here. This is the result of decades and decades of training style/timing differences.

Laura or Lee can correct me here, but I am fairly sure that not much in the way of formal work is asked of a pup in the UK before 9-10 months of age… I know some who don’t really get going until after a year.

When we are attempting to put these pups through very formalized work including any pressure, you have to be certain that they’re mature enough to handle it… I see so many who are rushing it and the pups really just need more time.”

We got our airing yard done that’s attached to the kennel. Super nice to kick the dogs out and not worry about them. Especially with one in heat right now and keeping her away from the stud.

Well our first crack at a hunt test was a success. This male is a Morayglen Hondo son ole smiling Benz. He has spent many hours in a duck blind and picked up hundreds of ducks, he goes harder to every bird than most any dog I’ve been around. I expected him to blow thru the test as he did.
This little girl Blaze is a female we kept out of last years litter. She turns 1 year old today and she is a grand daughter of Ragweeds Travel. I bragged on her a few weeks ago and she is an absolute natural. She has never hunted except 1 little dove hunt at 5 months old where she chased grasshoppers until she saw a dove go down at prolly 100 yd and she ran and picked it up like pro. Never been force fetched and only retrieving marks a few weeks now she hammered everything that was thrown at her this weekend on lines as straight as an arrow and birds delivered to hand everytime. The judges complimented her often.
I think you are looking at what should be a phenomenal pairing between these 2 if Blaze passes her OFA and genetic testing to be approved to go into our breeding program. Be on the lookout for a possible summer or fall 2024 breeding. They should all be dark fox red hard driving hunting machines.
