Hammy came to us lethargic and in poor shape. He had an upper respiratory infection and hadn't been eating or drinking enough. We helped him recover and he feels so much better.
Now he's a magnificent boy but still battling a cough. He's at vet clinic today and with a change in medication he should be completely recovered soon and ready for a new home.

We have to post more pictures of dogs enjoying the snow. Inari is loving life when it's this cold and snowy out. She's an incredible dog that's gone through the Ridge Dog Training Program and enjoys going for walks with the volunteers.

Did you hear the story about the person whose dog had puppies and they don't want them?
We hear this story all the time and when you offer to spay the mom, they turn you down! One of these days, we'll turn the page and the ending will be different with the owners wanting their mama dogs spayed.
As we look around our county and the counties surrounding ours, we can't help but see stray dogs and puppies everywhere. It's so frustrating when we offer to help the problem and the offer is rejected. It's hard to wrap our minds around their thought process.

This is what happens when friends bring friends to their potential puppy adoption! Rafael, Rosalie, Alissa and Brandon only live two blocks apart, so they get to have play dates and let the sibling puppies continue to see each other. They will all have so much fun with their puppies, Fruitcake and Snowglobe.

Third times a charm! And for Flurry, it really was. The Theallet's adopted Ruff Lauren first, then adopted Candy Cane and followed up today with the adoption of Flurry!

Yesterday we had a visit from Bolo! Kathy from Rathdrum, ID had made dogs beds and Tony who is Bolo's dad was in the area and brought them back to us.
A lot of you are new to following us and aren't aware of who Bolo is but he was very special to all of our staff, so it was a treat getting to see him again
Thank you Kathy for the beds! Our dogs and Boone will love them. Thank you Tony for bringing them to us! We appreciate you both.

We thought you might be interested in looking at Emi's hind feet.
Emi is a young German Wirehaired Pointer that was very thin and limping when she came in. When our vet looked at her it was found that her inner most digit on her left hind leg had an injury with bone involvement that would likely never heal correctly so the decision was made to amputate this toe while Emi was under anesthesia for her spay procedure.
It was also found that her right hind foot had abnormalities too. If you look closely, you'll see she doesn't have a central paw pad and her outermost toe has atrophied.
Emi will probably always have some level of lameness but even now after having a toe amputated, she doesn't seem to think anything is wrong and seems to wonder why we won't let her run
She's so sweet and will make an incredible companion for a family. While she does have the nose to hunt, we don't recommend that she hunts or is used as a running companion.

We had someone ask about how we are able to help animals in our care with vet visits. When we have cases like this, we either fundraise for the surgery or use funds that were extra from another surgery fundraiser. Donations for our vet cases may be made by going to paypal.me/adamscountypetrescue

Ready for a goofy Husky pup? These two siblings are funny and full of life. They would love to find active families that have a sense of adventure and love the Husky breed! They love their toys, wrestling with each other and think people are fantastic.
The pups would enjoy hiking and long walks and playing in the yard with toys.

ADOPTED TOGETHER!

It's hard to witness the grief a person has when they have to surrender a dog. Today was one of those days when it was really tough.
An elderly man came in today to see if he could bring his two dogs in because he was going to a nursing home. When we asked how soon did he need to bring them in, he answered today would be best. He drove back and brought his two dogs with him.
He was sobbing, couldn't speak and just stood there. We guided him to a chair so he could fill out the surrender form but when we came back, his head was bowed over the form with only his name and address filled out. We asked a few questions to add to the form but he could barely speak. He just couldn't talk and we knew it was too hard for him so we left it at that.
We promised to find great homes for his dogs and the last thing he whispered was, "I can't even take care of myself and I can't care for them". Our hearts broke.

Kaitlyn put on her repair hat today and tried to fix the gaping hole in one of the puppy kennels today. A little bit of foam and piece of wood found out back filled the whole but coming up with something to cover it will be a little more complicated because the left side is brick under the paint. We'll figure out something!

Caspian wanted to show off his fabulous blue eyes! While this picture doesn't how small in stature he is, you won't believe it but he's a short little guy.
He's a stumpy, small Husky/Heeler type mix weighing in at a whopping 33 pounds. Long fluffy hair rounds out the the cuteness.

Reba and Shaggy were surrendered due to a divorce and as much as their owner didn't want to surrender them, it became the only option after not being able to rehome them. It took awhile for them to be brought to us because of our waiting list but finally, we were able to take them.
They are both 3 yrs old, Labradoodles and have been together since they were pups and preferably, they would be adopted together. They are both really good on a leash, good with kids, other dogs and cats but will bark at strangers.
They haven't been able to go to the groomers since the end of Aug. or so and their coats will need some work.

Shaggy: male, Labradoodle, 3 yrs old, gold.
