Imagine having such a swollen, painful ear that it no longer stands up! Sometimes, the dogs that have really bad ear infections don't want you to touch their ear because it hurts but Gimble was a trooper and let us look at it and clean it a bit before having it looked at by the vet.
He's no longer trying to scratch at it and the swelling is going down but it's still not back to normal. It doesn't appear to hurt as much so the healing is on the right track.

On Tuesday, a couple of guys found these pups on the road near where they live. They knew the pups would have a rough go of it with the rain and cold we are having now, so they carried them to one of their houses.
He brought the pups to us today. We are glad he took them home and cared for them before they were injured or had something else happen to them.

What a busy year we had! It felt like we didn't have a down day at all but we surely must have. It's easy to lose sight of the all of the positive that happened and there was some pretty cool things that came about.
We are looking forward to seeing the difference in the puppy population this year after spaying and neutering 189 dogs at the Fall Fix Fest. Thanks to great volunteers, Sagehills Vet Clinic, Pasado's Safe Haven and Pawsitive Alliance this amazing event was made possible.
Our annual vaccine clinic was also a success as we wage a war against parvo in our area. We'll continue to help educate and encourage people to vaccinate their dogs and of course, their cats too.
We saw amazing results after having spent time in the classrooms at the local schools. Parents told us that their children had told them about vaccinations and spaying/neutering their animals. It's never too young to start teaching our children about the importance of animal welfare.
604 dogs and 432 cats came through our doors in 2024 with 383 dogs and 321 cats that were adopted. It was a slow year for adoptions not just here at ACPR but all over. We are looking forward to more adoptions this coming year.
Thank you for being part of our journey as we try to help change the lives of as many animals as we can. Without you, our team, we wouldn't be as successful caring for the animals that we come into contact with.

We celebrated the New Year today with some adoptions! Lucky for everyone that bad roads didn't hinder their trip and everyone got to meet their new family members.

Inari and Railroad had their adoption fees paid for as a Christmas gift for Deborah from her husband Ralph. It was such a neat gift and it's going to help get two of our long time residents get adopted.
Inari and Railroad are both Ridge Dog Training Program graduates and are super nice dogs. Inari is picky about her doggy friends but an absolute love with people. Railroad is a fantastic dog that gets along with other dogs and he also loves people.
They both walk on a leash well and know basic commands. If you don't want to deal with the puppy stages, try and adult dog!

Gigantor is a wiggly, goofy, loveable boy. He's very friendly and just wants to play with you. He loves his toys and is very clean in his kennel. This boy is just losing his front puppy teeth and he's huge.

This freshly washed boy is Tedi Bear! He's good with other dogs, cats and friendly kids and strangers. He is crate trained but not potty trained. Tedi is very smart so it shouldn't be hard to train him to potty outside. He does know the command, sit!

We get called about our fair share of dogs that have been hit by vehicles and most don't turn out well. For this boy that we named Andri, it will turn out ok.
Andri, kind of has a place to live, meaning he calls it home and he gets fed occasionally but the people living there don't consider him their dog because he just showed at their house a few months ago. He free roams the area and may find food at other places but he tends to stick around this one house.
We got a call because his front leg was dangling from his body and he had huddled up in an old dog house type of box. They couldn't get him out because he was growling at them but Andri was in an extreme amount of pain and was scared and growling would be expected.
We got him out and to the vet where they found his humerus was shattered and needed it amputated.
In this picture, he's on pain medication and antibiotics until we could get him transferred to Spokanimal, who happened to be coming the next day, to pick up a litter of puppies.
Andri will have surgery this week and recover in a foster home. We are very thankful that Spokanimal offered to help and Andri will soon be feeling better, even if it is with three legs.

Anvil is safe with us now. Carmen spotted him this morning on her ring camera and Gina got going and brought her trap to set up.
Erika and Jenny headed out, on their day off to take Spoggy, Anvil's buddy up there. The hope was that if Anvil saw or smelled Spoggy, he would come out of hiding.
That's exactly what happened and Jen was able to get a leash on Anvil.
Thanks to everyone that shared the post and let us know of sightings. It definitely takes a village and if there was a good place to get lost, it was doing it in Gina's stomping ground!

Edit: Headed towards Ritzville, WA on Northside of I-90.

Anvil needs your help! He was adopted today, 12-25-24 and they stopped to let him go potty and he got away from them. He was last seen north of Tokio ( gas station area off I-90) on N Hills Road.
He probably won't come up to strangers so please don't chase.
