**Foster home needed**
We are in need of a foster for a male AKK located in Queens NYC. Reported to be friendly with other dogs and people, but can be reactive in some situations such as grooming or being pushed to do something he doesn't want to do. For this reason we are looking for a foster with no children. We are not sure how he is with cats. If you think you can help, please message us.

Also, for those wondering why we have the "AKK only" policy, this is a good example. We get asked to take dogs like this nearly every day, sometimes multiple a day. We are a national breed rescue, meaning we serve all 50 states, and rely solely on limited donations and fundraisers. We simply cannot take all the "smallish" "huskyish" mixes from all over the country. Trust us, it breaks our heart too, but we must be realistic, and preserve our resources for actual AKK in need. ♡
We were saddened to hear about the passing of Mikey, who was adopted from AKKNR over 10 years ago. We offer our sincerest condolences to his family, and our heartfelt thanks for giving him his loving forever home. ♡
Our hearts are saddened to hear of the passing of sweet Noel, who was adopted from AKKNR, along with her brother Nicholas, 6.5 years ago. Rest in peace, sweet girl. We are so happy you had a wonderful forever home for your last years. ♡
Meet Dexter, who just arrived in Kansas after traveling all day. He will be undergoing thorough evaluations and behavioral rehab, possibly extensive. He is a sweet boy at heart, but the keys to unlock stable behavior need to be found. Dex has a potentially long road ahead and is NOT available for adoption at this time. (And another thank you to his wonderful previous foster that showed him so much love and excellent care and went the extra mile for him. ♡ We couldn't do what we do without such fosters!)

Chloe was released by an Amish breeder who was going out of business. She is about 22 lbs and is an Alaskan Klee Kai. Her DOB is: 5/29/15. This breed is a spitz-type breed of dog, developed in the late 20th century as a companion-sized dog resembling the larger Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky.
She is learning to live in a home and would do best in a home with a fenced yard. She is up to date on shots, micro-chipped and heart-worm negative. She is getting spayed and a dental on May 16th and we are looking for a foster to adopt home or an adoption home after she is spayed and gets her dental.

Snow is a 1.5 year old neutered male, possibly a Shiba Inu mix, that has changed hands a few times due to behavioral issues that include some biting. His current owner, who recently rescued Snow from someone that thought about taking him to a shelter, says Snow is very loving, very energetic, is housetrained, and knows some commands (sit, give paw, and high five). She is unable to keep him, as he is causing her other pets to be stressed as they don't appreciate his abundance of energy and rough-housing. We do suggest a behaviorist/trainer to help. Snow should be in a home without children, and likely without cats. If you think you may be the right fit for Snow, send us a message and we can get you in touch with his owner.
**Update: Sasha found her forever home with her wonderful fosters**
Meet Sasha! Sasha found herself in a shelter after being hit by a car. With quick help from some wonderful volunteers, we were able to get her out of the scary shelter and into a home so she can be much more comfortable and can get whatever she needs. She has a vet visit this afternoon, where she will receive an exam and bloodwork.
(Sasha is not available for adoption at this time.)

I received word today that Tonka, adopted from AKKNR a few years ago, has passed away. Please join us in sending sympathies to her wonderful owner as we remember Tonka.
Here is the loving message from her owner:
"Five years ago you left this sweet Klee Kai, Tonka in my care. She was an amazing addition to my home. She was cared for, loved, and spoiled by everyone who came in contact with her. She had many adoring fans young and old, friends and strangers. Unfortunately she developed cancer which spread to her lungs, so I had to make the heart breaking decision to put her down when she started having difficulty breathing...Please know that she was loved and cared for to her last breath. My family and I will be grieving this loss for some time as she was the one and only pet in the home.
..So, In Loving memory of Tonka 12/08/2009-08/25/2022
She will remain in the hearts of all who knew her."

*URGENT! Emergency foster needed*
We are in need of immediate foster for two dogs currently located in Wisconsin. One is a 12 year old female that seems to be quite sweet, the other is a 5yo male. The male may have fear aggression from lack of socialization, so someone with a secure space to keep him would be needed. If you are not able to foster longer term or have the knowledge/ability to work on his behavioral issues, but have somewhere they could stay while we work on other arrangements, please do message us ASAP if you would be able to take one or both dogs temporarily. It sounds like we have just a few days to save them.
