**ADOPTED**

Meet Lannie! Lannie is approximately 8 years old, social and outgoing with people and kids.
Lannie has not been tested around cats. She would do best in a home as only dog or possibly male dogs.
She loves attention, treat and food motivated, crate trained, and just wants to be pampered and loved.
Lannie is obese and will need someone committed to keeping her on a weight loss diet plan to shed off some of the extra “fluff” she’s carrying around.
Lannie is spayed, UTD on vaccines, flea/tick, and heartworm preventatives.

Backstory: Lannie’s owner unfortunately passed away leaving Lannie and another housemate by themselves. The two of them ended up being taken in to the shelter where they were considering euthanasia for Lannie. Thanks to some lovely caring neighbors who found out what had happened, they took action, got Lannie and her housemate out, and then reached out to us for help.

Lannie has been through a lot in the past couple of months, many big life changes. She’s spunky and has so much love to give with tail wags and smiles. **Foster home needed**

We are in need of a foster for a male AKK located in Queens NYC. Reported to be friendly with other dogs and people, but can be reactive in some situations such as grooming or being pushed to do something he doesn't want to do. For this reason we are looking for a foster with no children. We are not sure how he is with cats. If you think you can help, please message us.

So this girl is definitely not an AKK, but we've been asked to make a courtesy post to try to help her out. Please contact this shelter for any info!

Also, for those wondering why we have the "AKK only" policy, this is a good example. We get asked to take dogs like this nearly every day, sometimes multiple a day. We are a national breed rescue, meaning we serve all 50 states, and rely solely on limited donations and fundraisers. We simply cannot take all the "smallish" "huskyish" mixes from all over the country. Trust us, it breaks our heart too, but we must be realistic, and preserve our resources for actual AKK in need. ♡

We were saddened to hear about the passing of Mikey, who was adopted from AKKNR over 10 years ago. We offer our sincerest condolences to his family, and our heartfelt thanks for giving him his loving forever home. ♡

Our hearts are saddened to hear of the passing of sweet Noel, who was adopted from AKKNR, along with her brother Nicholas, 6.5 years ago. Rest in peace, sweet girl. We are so happy you had a wonderful forever home for your last years. ♡

Meet Dexter, who just arrived in Kansas after traveling all day. He will be undergoing thorough evaluations and behavioral rehab, possibly extensive. He is a sweet boy at heart, but the keys to unlock stable behavior need to be found. Dex has a potentially long road ahead and is NOT available for adoption at this time. (And another thank you to his wonderful previous foster that showed him so much love and excellent care and went the extra mile for him. ♡ We couldn't do what we do without such fosters!)
