Do NOT leave your dog in the car!!

It's summer! With temps getting warmer and warmer, PLEASE, PLEASE keep your dog safe and cool by leaving them at home. DO not leave them in your parked car (unless you plan to leave it running with the air on!!!)

Having the windows cracked DOES NOT make a difference! Be smart and protect your furry friends!

If you see a dog in parked car on a hot day you believe may be in danger, first check to make sure the car isn't running. Then call your local law enforcement and ask them come check on the dog.

Country K9 Kennels groom salon will be closed June 21 so our groom staff can attend a trade show! Thanks! See you Monday...

⚠️🚙⚠️ Despite the warnings, hundreds of dogs in the U.S. die every year after being left in a hot car. Someone you know may need to read this very important message. ⚠️🚙⚠️

SIX MINUTES is all it takes for a dog to overheat in a hot car.

Your dog could suffer serious injury or die in a matter of minutes if left alone in a car.

• The temperature inside a closed vehicle left in the sun can double within 12 minutes.

• At least 75% of the temperature increase in a closed vehicle occurs within 5 minutes of closing the vehicle, and at least 89% of the temperature increase occurs within 15 minutes of closing the vehicle.

• Temperatures exceeding 104˚ F can lead to death or serious injury for the occupants.

• Temperatures in a closed vehicle sitting in the hot sun can reach 160˚F and above. An animal will suffer immeasurably and may die before the temperature reaches 150˚F.

• Even when parked in the shade, the vehicle temperatures can exceed 104˚C.

• Leaving windows down more than 2 inches on an unattended vehicle will not prevent a car from reaching extreme temperatures.

• Even if the animal is revived, they can die due to severe internal organ damage.

Your dog trusts you to have their best interest at heart ALWAYS.
Please don’t risk their safety.

If you are not taking your dog inside your destination with you, PLEASE leave them at home where they are comfortable and safe.

Things are heating up, which means your pets need to be cool! Heatstroke can cause a range of serious symptoms and can be fatal. That’s why ensuring pets are hydrated and protected from the heat is so important.

06/19/2024

Between now and July 4th, there will be a 30-60% increase in lost dogs. More dogs will go missing on the 4th than any other day of the year. Shelters are already at or beyond capacity, so let’s make sure we don’t give them even more dogs to look after.

If your dog is afraid of fireworks, BE PREPARED. If you got a puppy in the last 12 months and this will be its first 4th of July, consider that this could be a really scary weekend for them.

Avoid taking your dog to any events in unfamiliar places, especially if fireworks are involved. Scared dogs run and it’s not worth the risk, so leave them at home.

Here are some additional tips to keep your pup safe this coming holiday!

For the love of everything, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not leave your pet in the car... leave your dogs at home where they have enough water AND shade if they can't be inside. We are already starting to get calls and it's HEARTBREAKING!

As temperatures continue to rise, don't forget to take extra precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of your pets.

Hot weather can pose big risks, especially due to the heat radiating from the ground, which can burn your pet's paws. To protect your pets, check the ground temperature before walks by placing the back of your hand on it for 5-10 seconds; if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.

Walk pets early in the morning or late in the evening when temperatures are cooler, and always ensure they have access to fresh, cool water. Provide shade if they spend time outdoors and limit exercise to avoid overexertion.

Look for signs of overheating, such as excessive panting or drooling, and never leave pets in cars, as temperatures inside can soar rapidly. Protective gear like pet booties and cooling vests can also help.

Our pets rely on us to keep them safe, and by taking these precautions, we can ensure they stay healthy and comfortable during the hot weather.🥰

As we approach the high 90's later this week remember that heat can kill

A dog house sitting in the direct sunlight provides no relief from the heat, when left out in the sun they become ovens often times resulting in temperatures warmer than the open air. While dog houses are a great shelter for animals they have to be placed properly during the hot months, an area with natural shade with a cross breeze is the best location. Remove all bedding to help reduce heat retention, if the dog house is vented make sure all of the vents are open.

If you have animals outside please make sure they have access to shade and fresh water at all times, make sure you are checking on them regularly to ensure they are not over heating as heat stroke can set in in less than 30 minutes. As always bringing them inside on the 90+ degree days is always the best option but for some this can't happen BUT you can still do your part to ensure their safety when outdoors.

If you see a problem report a problem, this can save lives‼️

Who do you call?

Your local police department, dog warden or local humane society are all equipped to handle calls in regards to animals left out in the heat without access to shade and fresh water.

Stay safe and keep your pets cool this week :)

Both dogs have been found.

Has anyone seen Gypsy and Moon? Gypsy (pictured) is a Great Dane Mix and Moon is a Boxer Mix that the family just got. Both have collars on and Gypsy should have her dog license on. Gypsy and Moon went missing from the area of Rd 17-N and Rd R, south of Kalida on Thursday. The family is devastated that both dogs are gone. If anyone happens to see the dogs, you can comment on the post or Facebook message the shelter.
