Wild Side Retrievers actively competes in AKC Hunt Tests & minor stake Field Trials. We offer a training program for the client who wants to campaign their dogs in these events. Our Gundog program is for the client who may not want to compete, but still wants a well trained, and respectful dog while in the duck blind. Puppy Head Start program

Large Breed Obedience program is offered to the client who wants a respectable member of the family, to enjoy them in their daily life activities.

Celebration of life for Gilbert “Gene” Van D**e to take place 09/24/2022 at VFW Post 8986 located at 1316 Hibbs Rd. Newport, NC 28570 at 2:00pm. Following the service and full Military Honors, we will have hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks available while we all remember the great life of our Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandpa, Papa and Marine. Again, I know I missed tagging people, so please share away. Thank you all for the kind words, love and support from all who have reached out to the entire family. Thank you again to VFW Post 8986 for all your efforts and brotherhood.

On September 13th 2022 this word lost a once in a lifetime man, a kind loving, humble, and Honorable man, but a fierce warrior when it was time to fight. The definition of bravery, loyalty and respect. He was a proud husband, father, grandpa, papa & friend to many Gilbert “Gene” Van D**e. He is a decorated retired Marine who is proud of his country, bled for his country, believed in his country and served his country to the fullest for 20 years. Please be with our entire family who live all over this beautiful country as we learn to navigate without him here in our daily physical lives. But we know that one day, we will see him again. Save a few fish for us! Fair winds and following seas, Semper Fidelis, “Well done thou good and faithful servant”. Never a goodbye, always a see you later. Services will be held on Saturday September 24th with military honors at VFW post 8986 in Newport, NC. We will post an official start time at a very near date, we have to meet again with the venue to get a time. We would like to thank everyone who has provided meals, been a shoulder to cry on, lend an ear, words of encouragement and condolences. I may not be friends on social media, so please share as much as you would like. We would also like to thank VFW Post 8986 for all of their help.

As most in the community already know, we lost a great brother a few days ago. Words will never do justice to the type of man and trainer that Chris Payne represented. Honor, loyalty, integrity, hardworking, and discipline are among some of those words. I had the privilege and a phenomenal time with Chris all over this world training dogs. From meeting him when he was with RockErin to Afghanistan and back home in the states. You will surely be missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing you. You left an amazing impact on so many people, and you will be remembered forever. Fair winds and following seas!!!

This past weekend, “Rebel” owned by Jeremy & Olesya Davis picked up two Senior passes. We want to thank the club Carolina Retriever Club of The Piedmont & landowners for hosting a wonderful event. 3 weeks tomorrow FC/AFC Dagger x Reaper MH pups

Ms. Grace is the sweetest girl, but she will try you every now and then. She is also a couple days into collar conditioning and moving along great. Her and Cooper are on track to finishing early.

Cooper is a couple days into his collar conditioning and progressing well.

Lana on some Obedience. She is a bit hard headed still, but we are improving at a good steady pace.
