We offer comfort and care to your pets with our pet sitting, dog walking and pet taxi services in Overland Park and surrounding areas like Leawood, Lenexa and Olathe. For you we offer peace of mind with convenient in-home pet care provided by bonded, insured pet professionals who care for your pet like it is their own. What makes us different is the importance we place on the relationship between people and their pets. When your pet is well cared for when you’re away, they return to you calm and in good spirits. When you don’t have to worry about your pet’s care or your home while you’re away, you return to them in good spirits as well. Both help improve and maintain the special relationship between pets and their people. In addition, your first meeting with us is complementary so that you can get to know us and we can get to know you and your pet. While you’re away, we document your pet’s care, temperament and experience in written journals, photographs and even video. Joy of Living was founded by Karen Harrison. A health scare in 2008 made Karen reevaluate her life and career priorities. With the belief that the relationship between people and their pets is one of life’s great joys, Karen decided to dedicate her career to her life-long passion for animals. Joy of Living was founded to facilitate happy, healthy relationships between pet owners and their furry family. In addition to being bonded and insured, we also belong to the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) and the American Humane Society.

I learned last week of the passing of longtime friend and client Starry Starry Night. She was a feisty fierce girl that kept her two kitty brothers in line, ruling her home. Starry loved playing wand toy so this is the tribute I chose for her. Starry, you were a great girl, and I will miss you terribly! Rest well, until we meet again ❤️❤️

We are currently at max capacity with animals at our shelter and are in desperate need of fosters for the cats and dogs residing there! By signing up as a foster, you open your home to a fun-loving, fuzzy new temporary roommate and save lives at the same time ❣️ When you foster, we cover the cost of your foster pet’s care. We can provide supplies, vet care, support, and anything else you may require to open your home to a pet in need 🐶😸

Until we have more fosters signed up, we unfortunately have to put a pause on intakes. This is a very difficult decision as requests come in daily and we want to help as much as we possibly can 😭 We need your help to house these animals and get them adopted to their forever families so we can continue to offer second chances ❤️

If you’re looking for a new activity for your dog, check out a snuffle mat. They provide mental stimulation, give dogs a chance to use their keen sense of smell and help relief stress/boredom. Check out the video of Max below using his snuffle mat for the first time yesterday.
