!!!HEAT ADVISORY!!! We all know that Florida heat can be brutal, make sure you are taking the proper steps to keep your pet's safe as temperatures continue to climb! Heat stroke poses a massive risk to your pet's health, and can even be fatal. Here are some tips to keep your pet safe this summer:

-Limit time spent outside, especially if your dog is excitable or plays hard.

-Provide lots of sources of water or shade if taking your dog outside.

-Avoid asphalt! If it is too hot for your hand, it will burn paw pads.

-Watch for signs such as excessive panting, change in gum color, urine dribbling, unsteady gate, seizures, or collapse.

If your dog starts to experience any of these signs, seek emergency treatment right away.

Thanks to the incredible support we received during Sweet Pea’s recovery, we’re honored to carry her legacy forward by helping another pup in need.

Meet Roxie, a 4-year-old sweetheart who came to us in critical condition with pyometra — a serious, life-threatening infection requiring emergency surgery. Thanks to quick action, Roxie made it through her procedure and is now on the road to recovery. With continued care, her outlook is bright.

Sweet Pea Update!! This incredible pup went through her surgery without complication and came back to us for some continued care. She still has a lot of recovery ahead, as she is being treated for meningitis on top of healing from surgery; but she keeps going! Livin’ Like Larry Farm Sanctuary is still taking donations to our hospital to pay for her extensive medical bills. If you’d like to donate, check out their site or give our ER a call at 689-689-6100

Sweet Pea continues to make improvements, while being treated at our 24 hour ER! She is now starting to eat on her own, and continues to walk around her kennel. Her journey is far from over, and the rescue that took Sweet Pea in is still fundraising to cover the costs of her extensive vet bills. A 10-week-old puppy is fighting for its life after being badly beaten in Live Oak, Florida. The puppy was so severely swollen from its injuries, rescuers didn’t even know which breed she was.

As many of our community may be aware, our ER has been treating this sweet baby, Sweet Pea who was brought in with severe trauma after suffering terrible abuse.

Sweet Pea continues to receive round the clock care from our incredible treatment staff. She is now able to walk around her kennel and has shown some interest in food. Her injuries are still quite extensive and she will continue to need intensive care on this road to recovery. If you would like to help donate to Sweet Pea’s care, our ER is accepting donations to her account and can be reached at 689-689-6100. Livin’ Like Larry Farm Sanctuary has taken responsibility for this sweet girl and they are also accepting donations for her care.
