HAPPY 4 MONTH BIRTHDAY, PAISLEY!
Check out Paisley, just stolling around outside, holding her balance, and walking like a boss!
Look at that head control!
We are SO proud of this sweet girl!
For her birthday, we are asking our amazing supporters to donate to her 46-day hospital stay.

Paisley Update: Day 45
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."
Last night, Paisley gave us a core memory as we got to experience her jumping, running, and acting like a puppy for the first time.
Let's just take a moment to soak in this moment together!

Paisley Update: Day 32
Sweet P is ON THE MOVE!
Her neck muscles are still pretty weak, and she requires support to have balance.
Our girl has successfully taken off every neck support provided to her, and the doctors are now brainstorming to find a solution that she can't take off and doesn't startle her.
Her neurological appointment went well!
She is improving daily but will plateue at some point. The best guess is between 6-12 months before that happens.
With how much improvement she has made in such a short time, I think continued PT and repeating everyday functions will be a task she will master (or come close to) again.
Her vision does have severe impairment, but she can see some.
She will likely never be 100%, but that was to be expected.
We are so thankful to keep you updated on Sweet P, and thank you for continuing to support her in her journey!
We are planning to move her into a foster home this coming week!
We will keep everyone posted!
Enjoy your weekend, and keep Sweet P in your thoughts!

Paisley Update: Day 27
"Great things are done by a series of small things brought together."
It's MOTIVATION Monday, and our sweet Paisley is literally stepping up her game!
Her PT sessions, plus her drive to get stronger, are astonishing!
As you can see in the video, she is able to "shake off the negative" and push herself to get up and walk.
Nothing is going to hold this sweet girl back!
(Not even a "slippy floor.")
While Paisley is continuing to make progress, her cognitive state needs further assessment.
We have scheduled a Neurologist Consultation for Ms. Paisley at the end of this week.
We are asking for your support in helping us fund the exam and any imaging they may want to perform.

Paisley Update: Day 24
Miss Paisley pulled out all of the stops today by getting to a standing position and taking 4-5 steps on her own!
Was it wobbly? YES
Did she flop down after? YES
Did she do it on her own? YES
Is it progress? ABSOLUTELY!
As you can see in the video, she is DETERMINED and gaining more mobility every day.
She works really hard during PT sessions and each day is gaining a little more strength.
Currently, her neck muscles are still extremely weak, causing her head to flop backward or forward, making it difficult for her to be steady on her feet.
Next on the list is to find something to help with head control/support until her neck muscles regain strength and can hold her head up.
It is believed that Paisleys Hypothalamus was damaged during her incident.
She has struggled with maintaining a "normal" body temperature.
Paisley body temperature regulates around 97-98 degrees.
Normal body temperature is between 99.5 -102.5
She is clinically stable, and the doctors believe she will always carry a lower body temperature due to this trauma.
Give it up for our sweet girl, Paisley, as she continues to build her muscles back up every day.
Paisley Strong!
Thank you to our SAL family of supporters for being such a positive presence during Paisley's journey!

Paisley Update: Day 17
Paisley Strong!
Our little fighter is NOT giving up!
Paisely is still making "gains" during her PT sessions, and when she is placed on a sturdy surface where she can get some grip with her paws, she is making multiple attempts to GET UP and stand!
While she is still very uncoordinated and her body "flails" during these attempts, she is getting STRONGER every day!
Her bloodwork has shown an elevated white blood cell count, which means she is fighting an infection of some sort - She has been started on an antibiotic and fluids to hopefully get that taken care of.
Our little love is eating GREAT on her own, aiding in her recovery strength!
Thank you for keeping sweet Paisley in your thoughts each day, and thank you for continuing to support her on her journey!
Have a Happy Fourth of July, and keep your furbabies safe!

Paisley Update: Day 14
Short Recap - Paisley was brought into the ER with a severe traumatic brain injury due to head trauma.
She presented in "status," which means she was in a constant state of seizuring despite emergency drugs. She was placed in a medically induced coma (about 48 hours) and gradually weaned off when her seizure activity subsided.
Paisley's hurdles have included seizures, coma, aspiration pneumonia, respiratory nasal discharge, fevers & muscle atrophy, to name a few.
Fast forward to today-
Paisley is able to eat & drink on her own while still receiving added nutrition through her NG tube.
She is showing marked improvements with movement during her daily PT sessions & tolerating weight on her hind legs for a few seconds.
Paisley's mental status and head control is still compromised, but that is to be expected with head trauma.
We can't thank everyone enough for the love and support you continue to show regarding our sweet girl, Paisley.
She may be small, but she is MIGHTY!
Each day, she seems to be making tiny puppy steps toward her recovery and getting stronger!
We are buckled up for this journey and are so grateful to have you with us!
We couldn't keep treating her without your support!
