🐾 Exciting News from SAHO Owasso West! 🐾

We’re taking fun to the next level at SAHO Owasso West Animal Hospital and Pet Resort 🎉 While the dog bone shaped pool is always a big hit at Owasso Main, we decided to up our game at Owasso West with the SAHO Doggie Splash Pad! 🐶💦

Picture this: your furry best friend cooling off under the palm tree water shower, chasing sprinklers, and splashing around with friends in a play zone made just for them. It’s the ultimate doggy paradise! 🌴✨

This one-of-a-kind feature will be available at Owasso West when we open this Spring! We can’t wait to share it with you and your pets. Stay tuned for updates and be among the first to experience this paw-some addition to our resort! ❤️🐕

Routine physical exams are great for checking your pet’s heart, lungs, eyes, and ears, but what about their internal health?

Annual blood panels help us assess internal health including liver and kidney function, metabolic disease, and blood counts. Diagnostic tests provide valuable insight into changes in their health over time and allow us to identify illnesses early which can lead to faster treatment and often a better prognosis

We have exciting news! SAHO is expanding! This Spring, SAHO is opening a second pet resort and animal hospital on 76th St N. This project idea was born in 2021 when we ran out of space in the current Hospital and Pet Resort.

The new facility, SAHO Owasso West Animal Hospital and Pet Resort, will be a full-service animal hospital managed by our own Dr. Brad Walsh. The goal of this hospital is to go back to our original roots and have a small 1-2 doctor practice focusing on wellness, outpatient care, minor surgery and dentistry. Most urgent care, emergencies, hospitalization and major surgery will still go through SAHO Owasso.

In addition, the SAHO West Pet Resort will DOUBLE our daycare capacity and introduces our new splash pad! There will also be an additional 5000 square feet of boarding space and double the outdoor play areas. Hopefully boarding and daycare wait lists will be no more!

SAHO Owasso West maintains the same type of lengthy, covered drive thru area for convenient pick up and drop off of daycare and boarding pets so you don’t have to get out of the car. We’ll handle it all!

And, there are separate entrances for the animal hospital and pet resort to virtually eliminate congestion at check-in.

With the holiday season in full effect, we know that there may be treats on your pet’s wish list. We also know that you are likely tired of the toothbrushing battle. Which is why we recommend dental treats!
Dental treats are a great way to reduce the severity of periodontal disease.

We urge our pet parents to look for the VOHC Seal of Acceptance and to avoid hard treats such as synthetic or natural bones.

Help us welcome Dr. Bob Shoup to SAHO Owasso! Dr. Bob is one of the most respected veterinarians in the State of Oklahoma and we are blessed to have him! See his attached bio below:

"After graduating from Oklahoma State University's Veterinary School in 1982, I began my career working with a solo practitioner in Catoosa. A few years later, we became partners, and over the next 40 years, we grew the practice to include eight veterinarians. In 2020, I sold my interest in the practice to my partner's son and gradually reduced my schedule to 2-3 days per week until fully retiring last fall.

Though retired, I have remained active in the veterinary field. I am a member of the Tulsa County Veterinary Medical Association, a managing partner in the Animal Emergency Clinic of Tulsa, and serve on an advisory committee for the OSU Veterinary School.

My wife, Terri, and I have been married for 39 years and have lived in the Owasso area for 30 years, where we raised our two children, Rob and Stephanie. Now "empty nesters," we share our home with three dogs and two cats. Two of our dogs, Rose and Aspen, are Golden Retrievers who, alongside Terri, volunteer for therapy work at hospitals, nursing homes, and juvenile court cases. I’m incredibly proud of the comfort and support they provide to those in need. Our third dog, Dottie, is an English Setter and my companion for quail hunting—one of my favorite outdoor activities. I’ve always enjoyed watching hunting dogs work and being out in nature.

Both of our children live in the Tulsa area and, unsurprisingly, they are dog lovers too—each with several dogs of their own! Our two granddaughters are nearly perfect and seem to be following in the same foot/paw steps as their parents with their love of animals.

After nearly a year of full retirement, SAHO offered me the opportunity to work one day a week at their office, and I’m thrilled to be back in the groove. SAHO has state-of-the-art facilities, a fantastic staff, and a team of caring and talented veterinarians. I especially enjoy discussing cases with the younger veterinarians, whose brilliance gives me great confidence in the future of our profession. I am blessed to still be able to enjoy working my dream job."
