‼️⚠️RABIES ALERT: ⚠️‼️
Last week there was a confirmed case of rabies in Tulsa in a dog that was involved in biting a person. Tulsa Animal Services put out an alert which we will link to below. While it is unfortunate this occurred, and it is not cause for alarm, it does provide an opportunity for us to remind the public that rabies exposure can and does still occur. Your pets should be vaccinated against rabies because it will help to protect them and you from this preventable but fatal and incurable disease. And, it is also required by state law and city ordinance for your pets. We encourage you to call our office to check the status of your pets' most recent rabies vaccine.
We also applaud the efforts of Tulsa Animal Services and the Oklahoma State Department of Health for their quick and thorough response to this situation, as well as TAS efforts to coordinate upcoming vaccine clinics to help protect local pets.

Hello FAMily! Our friends over at Feeding the Pets of Tulsa's Homeless, Inc. are in desperate need of some donations. They've been serving higher than normal numbers of pets and people on Thursday nights. They are in need of dog food, as well as L and XL harnesses. You can drop these items off in our lobby or have them shipped to our location! We also have a collection box for cash at our front desk. As always, we are so thankful for your support of this incredible organization!

Ok! We are going to open back up Thursday! Most of our staff should be able to open as scheduled but be patient as some will wait for the sun to come up before leaving. We will be open, just possibly on a delay! We can’t wait to see our patients and clients again!!

Out of an abundance of caution with the upcoming blizzard like conditions, and for the safety of our staff and our clients, we have made the decision to CLOSE Tuesday 2/18. We may have a delayed opening or a full closure on Wednesday 2/19, but it will be dependent on the timing of the storm and how much work the roadcrews can do before opening time Wednesday. These temps and conditions will be LIFE-THREATENING for pets and people. Please make sure you bring any outdoor pets INSIDE at least to a garage with proper bedding, shelter and fresh water. As a reminder, animal cruelty is a felony in Oklahoma and leaving pets outdoors in these conditions is illegal. Please be safe, stay warm and we appreciate your understanding.

We have an update! PetLink is now offering $1 microchip registration for those pets who had the now defunct Save This Life Microchips, you must use the code STLDOLLAR.
At FAM, we will be checking all pets during appointments to make sure the chip is registered and up to date. But we encourage you to use the AHAA chip lookup https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/ to see if your pet's records need updated, especially if you had a STL chip. If so, you can use one of these options below, including the PetLink offer for $1 mentioned above. You can find your pet's chip number in the PetDesk app, or you can call or text our office and we can look it up for you. Please take this seriously and get your pet's microchip info updated.

If you have had your pet microchipped at FAM at any time in the past, or used this site to register your pet, YOU MUST ACT ON THIS! Save This Life Microchips has SHUT DOWN and removed your contact info from the national database. PLEASE immediately use one of these sites to register your pet with the national registry.

We are working diligently to communicate to all pet owners, and to find any other potential solutions, but in the meantime, this is the best way to make sure your info is available if your pet becomes lost and is scanned at a vet clinic or shelter.

Meet Hank!

Hank is a 5 year old Australian Shepherd that, as his mom Casey says, “is allergic to everything!” He came in for his cytopoint injection today because he was itching and scratching. He will also bite at his paws. Casey told me that when he gets his cytopoint injection he’s able to relax and calm those behaviors.
