I’m officially prioritizing anxious and aggressive dogs when accepting new clients! This is something I’ve been itching to do for a while. I have enjoyed working with anxious and aggressive dogs so much during my almost 6 years of training that I’ve decided to specialize in this area. To celebrate, I’m offering owners with aggressive or anxious dogs 50% off of my new Peaceful Package during the month of June, making this 8 session package CHEAPER than my Basics Package that includes 6 sessions.

Other things to know:

The Peaceful Package is normally $798 but will be on sale in the month of June for $399.

I am still offering basic obedience training

Dogs struggling with aggression and/or anxiety will be my main focus

You can expect to see more content from me on this subject

Here’s what Xander is working on this week!

Xander gets a little too excited on walks and you may not notice it in the photo but he’s a BIG guy. 😅

In order to control his excitement, we’re working on desensitization with the neighborhood! This is something I tell all of my clients to do with their dogs.

This week Xander’s mom and dad will be taking him out on a leash to hang out in the front yard to practice simple commands while watching the neighborhood go by. Over the next week, as he starts to feel more comfortable watching instead of participating with every neighbor who decides to get in and out of their cars, his parents will expand his walk further and further away from home. We often get into a mode where all we do is go go go with our dogs. We forget that our dogs have yet to learn how to sit and be still while outside of the home. This is a skill just as leash walking is. I can’t wait to see Xander again for our next session!

Here’s how I am helping a family to introduce their older dog, who has had some bad experiences with other dogs(being attacked), to their new puppy!

Step one: spend the first few days hanging out on the back patio on leash. No one can touch each other.

Step two: We allowed some sniffing. It helps a ton that the puppy is super submissive to the older dog and rolls right over, making the older dog much more comfortable.

Step three: after a few days of interactions like this, we allowed the puppy off leash. The older dog did great at watching and seemed like she wanted to play.

Step four: (next session) Older dog is being trained on how to get comfortable with a muzzle. Then- playtime for both dogs while the older dog wears a muzzle!

Step five: once both dogs are playing nice and there is no growling from the older dog, we will be allowing small amounts of free play, muzzle free!

These things are a process but sooooo worth the wait!

Touch some grass today. Get off of the patio and onto the grass with your dog for some relaxed playtime. For extra points, remove your shoes!

There is research that shows that making direct contact with the Earth produces physiological outcomes like improved sleep, reduced pain, decreased muscle tension and lower stress levels.

There are several reasons that your dog enjoys being outside and part of it is connecting with nature!

Training benefit: When you get off of your porch/patio, you become part of your dog’s life in the outdoors. Dogs compartmentalize a lot so if you stay stuck to the pavement, you are practically a fly on the wall to your dog when you are outside. Get put into nature and connect with your pet today!

It’s so important to desensitize your puppy to the public and to loud noises, even if they aren’t old enough to walk around yet, due to not being fully vaccinated. Put that baby in your cart or in your arms and get out there to see the world! 💪🏼🌎

I cannot stress enough how important it is to make sure your pets have proper identification on their bodies. More dogs get lost or run away on the Fourth of July than any other day of the year. Pets react in unpredictable ways to fireworks and one of them is running away out of fear.

How hot is too hot?

It’s no secret that Summer temps in Oklahoma can be pretty intense. Here’s a secret- if you’re feeling the heat- so is your dog. It can affect your dog’s energy levels, stamina and their overall comfort.

We recommend that if you plan to take your dog out for a walk in weather that is 85 degrees or higher that you take a few precautions.

• Keep walks SHORT
• Take water with you for your pup
• Stick to the GRASS and or invest in a good set of little booties for your dog. No one needs burnt paw pads.
• Stick to the shade as much as possible
• No heavy or full coverage harnesses

These are just a few ways you can improve the quality and safety of your walks on hot days!

Here are some quick tips on how to have a safe and enjoyable weekend with your dog! 🐕

•Make sure your dog has a cool and shaded spot to lay

•Make sure your dog has proper identification tags in case they get loose

•Provide plenty of cold water for your pup

•If your dog is going to be swimming for extended periods of time, be sure to provide a life jacket! You can get one at most pet stores and some lake shops!

Our trainer, Bree Story loves to incorporate games into all of her lessons to make training a memorable experience for both you and your dog.

We are passionate about helping animals and pet-owners reach their full potential. It is proven that bad behavior is the number one reason that animals are surrendered to shelters every day. Improving an animal’s behavior improves that same animal’s quality of life. We don’t care if your dog is eighteen months old or eighteen years old. Every dog can learn new tricks.
