This morning we picked up our next batch of feeder pigs. Until the fair pigs leave, this dozen piglets will be kept off-site.

PEACOCKS! KITTENS! CHICKS! PIGGIES!

Spring has certainly sprung at the barn, as a new crew of animals has moved in recently.

Our newest residents are two beautiful male peacocks. They have a lot to say, so come say hello!

Millie is with a new batch of kittens, and adopted some orphans who lost their mother.

Different batches of chicks will be circulating in the brooder, courtesy of Lori Thieme.

And a new batch of pigs join the barn, destined for the Clark County Fair later this summer. They, along with the meat goats, are being cared for by students who without a barn would be unable to show.

Thanks for braving the cold and snow to make this a memorable Halloween for the kids!

It was a great evening having families and friends come through for hot drinks, hot foods, and some sweets!

Special thanks to Black River Apple Orchard for the use of their shuttle to move people back and forth safely from the school parking lot.

We are ready for trick or treating on Tuesday night! Join us for a Spooktacular evening at the farm from 5-8pm.

We will have candy for the kids, plus hot chocolate, s'mores, fire roasted hot dogs, and fun for the family.

PARKING IS AT OW SCHOOLS. A tractor shuttle will be running all night. Walk ups are also welcome.

Unfortunately, the corn maze and little pumpkin path will be closed due to unsafe slippery conditions.

Dress warm, dress up, and we'll see you soon!

THANK YOU ALL for coming to the farm today for Family Farm Day! It was a tremendous success.

We had bucket raffles, meat bundle raffles, photo area, corn maze adventure game, free ice cream, tractors, animals, a delicious pulled pork dinner, and pumpkins to take home.

The weather turned out great and the young boy who won the pedal tractor was so excited to drive it home!

A reminder that we are open daily 9am-dusk and the corn maze will be there through at least November 1.

Join us on Halloween night for our Spooktacular Event from 5-8pm for more family fun!

CORN MAZE SPOILER!

Look away if you don't want to be clued in on the corn maze path!

As a courtesy to parents or those who get lost easily, here's a map of this year's corn maze.

Please stay on the path and do not cut through the corn. It doesn't take much to break off the stalks and ruin the experience for others.

New this year is the Lil' Pumpkin Path - a simple, shouldn't-get-lost path around the field - great for the littlest of explorers!

Suggested donation is $2.00 per person. Open Daily 9am-Dusk!

The Wells Farm Learning Center is excited to announce that it is a co-host for the 2023 Wisconsin Maple Syrup Producers Association Fall Tour!

Maple producers and enthusiasts from across the country are traveling to Central Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday, October 13-14, to tour different maple operations and local destinations to learn more about one of agriculture's most unique industries - Maple Syrup!

Saturday Tour includes: Owen-Withee FFA Sugar Bush, Engel's Sugar Bush, Brubaker Sugar Bush, Marieke Gouda, Black River Orchard, and the Wells Farm Learning Center.

Saturday tour includes round-trip bus transportation from Roth Sugar Bush in Cadott and lunch!

An optional Friday night social at the Leinie's Lodge is also available for those of age and that can travel there on their own.

Four new feeder gilts have joined us for the fall growing season. Come see their cute little waddles and take in the corn maze too.

The Corn Maze is now OPEN!!!

We have two options for you this fall - the traditional corn maze with loops, dead ends, and multiple solutions from start to finish.

Our newest option is the Lil' Pumpkin Path - a simple path that goes all the way around the big maze. Perfect for little kids, strollers, or those who don't want to get lost in the maize. 😉

A donation box is set up at the start. Your donations go towards farm supplies and new additions.

Throughout the summer, Nick and AJ have been working with Mrs. Finkelson and the FFA Alumni to raise their first animals for the fair.

They have been doing their chores, feeding and cleaning the pigs, and leading them around the paddock. We're glad to have been able to provide them the space to get involved in animal production.

But alas, it is officially fair week. Stop by before Tuesday to meet up with the drove before they head to the fair. Good luck at the show on Wednesday!

New gate smell at the barn!

As a part of their long-term commitment to advocating for Agriculture and supporting Agricultural Education, the Owen-Withee FFA Alumni purchased short gates to make it easier to work with the animals and dress up the barn.

A larger gate upstairs to prevent falls. Special thank you to the birthday dad, Ken Engel, for helping install them today.

Winter coat in the summertime? No way!

Ms. Hougard, OWHS English teacher and Theatre director, spent a lot of her youth raising sheep for the fair and was eager to stop by this morning to give Missy the Sheep a well deserved wool-cut.

CORN MAZE UPDATE

We have cut the corn for this fall's corn maze; however, we are not ready for travelers. The corn is short and the paths are bumpy.

Please allow the hot days and occasional showers to keep the corn growing.

We will let you know when the maze is ready.
