Goodbyes often suck. Sometimes they really suck. This week we have one of those really very very sucky goodbyes because we have to say goodbye to Lisa Charles. She passed away Monday after a long fight against cancer. I can't put into words how proud I am of her. I have been so moved by her courage as she fought against incredible odds. Her bravery and persistence as she pushed through the pain, exhaustion and frustration should inspire us all.
She told me time and time again how she wanted to get better so she could get back to the fish store... so she could get back to helping people. She loved connecting with people and trust me when I say that if you were one of the regular customers she really did love you. She asked about so many of you by name. She wanted to know how your aquariums were coming along and she wanted to know how each of you were doing. She wanted so bad to get back and see you again; she fought so hard.
I want to express my deepest sympathy to her husband and my friend J.D. Charles. I have witnessed his love and support for her always. Also to her children... I am so sorry for your loss. I am so sorry you have to say goodbye so soon.
We have all lost a wonderful person... she was a wife, a mother, a mentor to many and a very dear friend. She is gone but I will never forget her. She is gone now but for so many of us... she is living in our heart now.

Have you ever wanted a silly fish that farts? The dojo loach takes in air from the surface and uses part of its digestive system to absorb oxygen. You will see their back ends floating right before they fart. We currently have golden and "weather " loaches in stock. The weather ones change color when it is going to rain. What more can you ask for in a fish? 😉

This is our store mascot! This is a large Miami Hurricane chalice. Every Hurricane needs a name so I am hoping you all can help me come up with a good name for my work companion. The first suggestion was Hulk. Leave your naming ideas in the comments. If you like the name someone else came up with like that comment. I will come up with a name tag for my co-worker to put on the tank. Thanks for the help.
