🐾 Now Hiring: Animal Transporter (Contract Position) 🐾
Owen County Friends of Animals is looking for a dedicated and dependable Transporter to join our team! Our current transporter, James, who is an invaluable member of our team and clearly loves our animals, as you can tell from the picture below, has chosen to serve his country and join the military.
Position Details:
Duties: Transport dogs to veterinary appointments and rescue partners, plus work shelter shifts every other Saturday & Sunday. Shelter shifts include walking dogs, cleaning kennels, and providing daily care for the animals. Most transports to rescues are within an hour one way, but on occasion, they may be longer trips, 2-4 hours one way. Please note vet appointments require a drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon, and shelter shifts require a morning shift of several hours and an evening shift of a shorter time frame.
Pay: Flat rate of $600 per month
Hours: Averages around 40 hours per month, but varies based on vet appointments, rescue schedules, and shelter needs. Vet appointment times vary, but most require you to leave the shelter by 7:30 am. Please note vet appointments require a drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon, and shelter shifts require a morning shift of several hours and an evening shift of a shorter time frame.
Flexibility: You'll need to be available on short notice to fill in as needed.
Attention to Detail: You will need to ensure paperwork from the vet is correct and transferred to rescues, and follow policies and procedures.
Requirements: Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and—most importantly—a genuine love for animals.
Perks: Transportation is provided. This is an ideal role for a retired individual or anyone seeking to make a meaningful contribution to the community.
