Rob's Rescue

Rob's Rescue We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue in the Baltimore area. We neuter and rehome abandoned stray We cannot do this work without your help!

Steph Lee formed Rob's Rescue in 2011 in honor of her friend Rob Morrow. Steph met Rob when he adopted a sweet elderly one-eyed stray cat named Old Grey that Steph rescued near Joppa, Maryland. When Rob later passed away, Steph wanted to pay tribute to all of the stray cats that Rob took in over the years, and organize as a nonprofit to expand her own rescue efforts. Rob's Rescue is dedicated to t

he needs of stray, abandoned and/or community cats in Baltimore and Harford County. Many cats lose their homes through no fault of their own and appear on our doorstep, sometimes in the bitter cold of winter, seeking our help to be part of a loving family again. We ensure that they have food and shelter, are spayed or neutered, and receive any other necessary medical care, and then we work to find them a forever home. Other cats have lived most of their lives in outdoor cat colonies with little human contact other than the dedicated group of people who feed them regularly. Even though these cats have not been socialized and would not thrive in a home, they deserve to live out their days in peace, in a manageable-sized group that is free from a constant breeding cycle of multiple litters of kittens each year. In those circumstances, we work to humanely trap the cats and then spay/neuter them to break the breeding cycle, and return them to their colonies where they will be most happy. But we also work to trap their kittens when they are fully weaned but still young, and socialize them for adoption. We need donations of cash, cat food, litter and other supplies to provide the necessary care for each and every cat and kitten. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and are eligible for tax-deductible contributions. Donations can be made through PayPal to this address: Robsrescue@hotmail

We also need a dedicated group of fosters willing to help us in all circumstances: rebuilding trust with lost or abandoned adult cats before rehoming; socializing kittens of community cats for adoption; and caring for cats of all ages to recover from spay/neuter and other medical treatment before finding their forever homes. And we also need your time and talent to help develop our social media presence, increase our donation base, and take us to the next level. Thank you so much for any assistance you can give to Rob's Rescue.

The community cats of Owings Mills were featured in a neighborhood handout aimed toward addressing any concerns people may have about feral cats in their midst. We’re hopeful that educating people will foster goodwill and a welcoming atmosphere for these amazing cats. We covered everything from TNR to the benefits of cats as pest controllers, especially given the woodland setting. Along with information from Ally Cat Allies, we outlined how the managing and monitoring takes place and the success of these strategies in controlling the population and maintaining healthy community cat colonies. This small community of 5 cats continues to be monitored and managed by rescue volunteers who often go unnoticed and unappreciated but I hope we’ve brought them to the forefront by recognizing the invaluable service they provide this community — I couldn’t do this alone and I’m so very grateful for any help that comes our way. Pictured are the 5 cats and the names we’ve given them. May they too be appreciated for the benefits they provide rather than vilified due to fear and misinformation. May this happy community live in harmony.

A few more of Ayla and her baby boy…

10/15/2023

Huck and Ayla have found their forever home — after several months of holding them for adopters who suffered setbacks, I flew them to Wisconsin where they’re now settled into the best home ever — for those who guessed my mom, kudos to you! She and her husband John were anxiously awaiting their new fur babies and they didn’t disappoint; Huck entertains them with his high wire acts and death defying leaps, while Ayla warms up with each week, trusting herself to affection and begging for treats. Huck is now called Buddy as he’s always answered to various nicknames and Buddy just seemed to stick. Both are happy and healthy and loving all the birds and chipmunks that keep them vigilantly watching from the many windows and cat perches. The community cat visits daily and they seem to have an understanding involving long hard stares and exchanges in cat language. It’s so wonderful to see them having the run of the house and their own loving family all to themselves. I look forward to seeing them every trip home; they’re now added to the long list of loved ones that I sorely miss and can’t wait to see again. I’ll update everyone on their first Wisconsin winter which I’m sure will prove interesting! Thanks for all who supported me through this long year of fostering Ayla and her babies; we can all rejoice at this happily ever after story. 😹
