Mags is in surgery :.. she is sadly going to have to be spayed... somewhat bittersweet! Love my mommas! Hoped for one last Purebred litter as she’s only had 3 litters in her life including todays but they found a tumor in her uterus so she is being spayed.

They haven’t done a count on pups yet.

2 have passed though....

Keep her and the babies in your prayers will update later.

So after Peyton’s big broken leg issue I want to let everyone know that my favorite big black brindle English Mastiff is doing well...

To explain what happened.::

Her and Winston had a romantic rendezvous and resulted in the tragic broken leg. I’m guessing she zigged when he zagged and she slipped and fell while he mounted or something.

Because of her age, giant breed, and complexity of break , 2 ortho doctors and 2 additional veterinarians said they couldn’t do the surgery.

One ortho doctor said splint it and hope for the best, she clearly isn’t in pain and gets around.

I braced it for weeks and now I’ve let her be her guide to healing.

This big, dumb, amazing, loving girl now looks prego... lol i have no idea for sure. Walks with a limp but I spared her euthanasia based on her progress.... as you can she’s she’s doing well.

Tonight we are chillin by a warm fire.

Prayer and faith work and a lot of common animal sense behavior. I watched her to tell me what to do. So let’s pray Peyton is prego and has some beautiful babies to carry on her legacy.

They are having to say goodbye to their beloved Magnum.

The debate on shaving of saints and this is explains why you shouldn’t.

I posted this as a comment but thought it should be a post to help people understand the science behind a double coat dog and what potential harmful effects it can have if you shave them.

Shaving your dog is up to you, but at least learn the impact of what you're doing.

The top layer protects the dog from bugs, ticks, dirt, etc, but most importantly it reflects the light of the sun, keeping the worst part of the heat away from your dog. You can understand the difference by standing in the sunlight, vs standing in the shade. The top coat makes a dog feel like he's in the shade and reflects sunlight which prevents sunburn.

The bottom coats primary job is to absorb the surrounding temperature, which in the shade is always 10 degrees cooler. So even in direct heat your dogs bottom coat absorbs the coolest point in the weather. Remember dogs can't sweat so they rely on this year round coat to stay cool or warm. The top coat blows before winter so the bottom coat can absorb heat but thats another topic.

Now when you shave a dogs coat, it does grow back the same, except in rare circumstances where the top coat grows in wrong and basically creates nasty in grown hairs and skin issues. Thats so rare its not the real problem. You see, the top coat grows only twice a year and very slow compared to the bottom coat. So what happens is the bottom coat grows in faster and instead of reflecting the sun, it absorbs the heat, making your dog hotter. Science is great, isn't it? Shaving your dog reduces his ability to reflect sunlight, and makes his bottom coat absorb heat instead of cool air, similar to how it works in the winter.

Having your dogs belly shaved, his feathers trimmed and his coat properly brushed with a deshedder every 6-8 weeks is the best thing you can do for your dog in the summer heat. Deshedders do not remove the top coat.

Beauty does not get shaved! I did have to clip her tail and hind end feathers as when I got her she had terrible unbrushable mats in her hair.

I encourage no shaving!

An adult BetMastiff from Sheena x Winston has come available. She has to be rehomed to a home with no other pets. She is excellent with people but has started to become aggressive to other animals the owners have shared.

She is located in Northern MI. I will put you indirect contact with owners so they can answer questions.

It is with extreme sadness I report Peyton has a broken leg in her right rear hock joint.

Estimates are over 5k. She is 5 years old and there is some question to the general status of the joint as a whole.

I’m placing this in prayer this evening and hoping to wake up with clarity. I have no idea what to do!

LTM Princess Peyton needs some miracle answer that my checkbook cannot provide .

She is my favorite, she has always been called Purdue Peyton too.

Not sure what i should do.

I have a moral issue with Go Fund Me, i would love to donate to a university for surgery for students, or win the lotto and pay to have the surgery done.

Otherwise I’m not sure it’s fair to her. She can’t leave my side ever and now here I am with the girl’s life in my hands.
